Earlier poster said "None of us shoot ball ammo in our carry pistols anymore.". I just made that statement because the guys in the military have no choice, Mike from Texas.

I'm worried about the type of turtle that needs 12-18" of penetration to stop effectively.....

I've never seen any deformities, but, I don't reload, and all but 1 of my Glocks have LW barrels.
I've had my original G23, which is my EDC, since the early 90's.
Just an aside--why the LW barrels? I've never found their quality to be any better than factory GLOCK®.

Just for fun, I still feed a Smith 4003 TSW, a Sig 229 SAS DAK .40, a Beretta Cougar in .40, and an HK USP40 every now and then. Just for the fun of it, don't you know. Oh, and there's a P7M10 in the mix too; however, I really don't fling the .40 rounds very often. :meh:

I have seen a lot of discussion over the years about the demise of the .41 mag round, it seems to be relevant to me in this discussion. There are still a lot of fans of the .41's and it will be out there forever I would imagine...as will the .40 S&W's. Both have a place in the world and will continue to be used for a long time. It seems current trends are for everyone to replace their .40's with 9mm's...but I don't think it will be a trend for us all.
