I remember when everyone in this country was enraged because of things that Soviet Premier Khrushchev said about communism taking over the world.

Not even Khrushchev could have expected the way the communists have been taking over this country. Don't think that tearing down statues and memorials was just a little anger being vented. It's calculated to make sure that we ignore our history and accept the crap they're feeding us as our only choice for the future.

Can you find bad things to say about historical figures? Sure. They were human and so were flawed by definition. That doesn't mean that they weren't heroes. Khalil Gibran wrote:

"You have been told that even as a chain you are as weak as your weakest link.
That is but half the truth.
You are also as strong as your strongest link.
To measure you by your smallest deed is to reckon the power of the ocean by the frailty of it's foam.
To judge you by your failures is to cast blame on the seasons for their inconsistency."

    Outstanding post!

    Thank you.

I think you are right. They should be careful what they wish for, they might get it.
And they don't have the advantages tje North had last time.

If Texas was still part of Mexico, it would just move the border farther north and it would be the same shithole it is now with people trying to get out of it.

Here's yet another example of the top thinking of scholars in our state:

I am not sure if their beliefs bother me more, or their neurotic body language.

Consider the authors of this book:

    - Bryan Burroughs is a writer for Vanity Fair magazine

    - Chris Tomlinson is the author of Tomlinson Hill: The Remarkable Story of Two Families who Share the Tomlinson Name - One White, One Black. From another trash piece of his “The Trump leadership-by-fear model falls short August 8, 2015. Evidence of subconscious racism shows up at Honda July 15, 2015.”

    - jason Stanford served as Austin mayor Steve Adler’s communication director and wrote all of his public statements

These are the three “ great minds” that came up with this trash

Interesting article from Time magazine. You have to wonder what they were smoking...

What is different between the Texas Revolution and the American Revolution 60 years earlier? Yes there were a bunch of Tejano Hispanics who fought Santa Anna for the same reasons as the other settlers in what became Texas. We are all aware and proud of that fact. The flags of Mexico, France, Spain, CSA, Star Spangled Banner and the Lone Star all have flown over Texas and still wave side by side at many state institutions. Texans do not deny our history, we embrace it, learn from it and take pride from it.

This is no different that hundreds of other events in our past history.
Did the Romans ask for permission when they took all of the lands they conquered during their reign?
Did the pioneers moving west ask the native Indians if they could take their property?
The Alamo is just another event where people took what they wanted. The Alamo is a holy plot of land. It represents the sacrifice of people that wanted Texas to be free at all costs.
I hope Texans will always stand up against any attempt to discredit the Alamo or what took place there.

This article claims that it only took 4 days because Santa Ana wanted to have it by March 2nd and took it on March 6th.

“Santa Anna had told Mexico City he expected to take San Antonio by March 2; he ended up doing so on March 6. In the end, the siege at the Alamo ended up costing him all of four days”

Santa Ana’s army arrived on February 23rd. Feb 23, 1836 to March 6, 1836 was 12 days.....The person writing this article may be missing some brain cells or they’re deliberately misleading their readers.

Texas Monthly ran the same kind of article to promote a book of lies about Texas history. On Facebook, Jerry Patterson, a former Texas state senator, Texas Land Commissioner, and a retired Marine Vietnam veteran responded to Texas Monthly. I won't try to copy and paste his lengthy, point-by-point rebuttal to the lying revisionist book authors but I recommend it as a good starting point for researching the Alamo and that particular historical location.
Here is a link to Jerry Patterson's FB page. https://www.facebook.com/Patterson4TX/
The lengthy response to Texas Monthly can be found there.
