HP21 All the way! Love those old Reverse Polish Notation calculators. First calculator I had in high school was a K+E log log decitrig slide rule. In 1976, in my computer programming class we had a 300 baud modem you had to stick the phone receiver in to hook up to a computer at UT.

could you spell "BOOBIES" on any of those?

Almost start a war? I'd be interested to hear that story.

He thought he had dialed into some gaming computer, but had actually called the War Operation Planned Response computer at NORAD. He found a list of games like tic-tac toe, chess, poker, etc. He is able to hack the password, and selects the game Global Thermonuclear War.

The WOPR thought is was real, and began playing out simulations that the NORAD people thought were real attacks. The DEFCON was raised several times and our bombers were launched. It was only after Matefrio convinced Ally Sheedy to go to an Island and take Professor Falken back to NORAD that they convince the NORAD people it is only the computer playing simulations and they stop WOPR from gaining the launch codes to actually start a war.

    It was quite intense.
