When will we as righty's say enough is enough and pick up our arms? What will it take? I know that decision is different for everybody but I'm interested to see. Will it be when the goverment takes more in taxes that you take home? Or when they come for your guns? When they repeal the constitution, or when you start losing your rights?

I believe this is a battle between good and evil. When are you going to join the fight?

I'm already fighting this via words, thoughts, and leading by example.

As I am a family man and a good American, violence is always at the very bottom of my list.

Don’t you believe that election cycles can minimize the damage? The Constitution is ignored very frequently in this country by politicians but as long as this structure (term limits) is in place I feel somewhat confident that we can change course without revolution. I worry the most about the 1st Amendment not being used properly by the media and its effect on the intellectually lazy among us. I'm not saying that you shouldn't be legitimately pissed off (you’re not alone) but I’m not at that point yet. One last thought. Our country certainly has roots in armed rebellion but do you feel that given our current culture, we would be able to match what was necessary when under British rule? In other words a coordinated & violent effort to remove the problem when that breaking point is reached. I have my doubts.

I often wounder if at some point our own military would not have a armed take over to restore the republic. Much like the movie XXX the State of the Union.
I know that's just a move but anyone that has ever seen it can see where that could become a real possibility!!!
If you have not seen it, see it.
It's good entertainment but at the same time raises questions as to why it has already not happened?
As to the OP question, I would take up arms as a last resort, but for now I write, fax and mail anyone and everyone who I feel has any ability to help.
A armed revolution in this country by members of it's populace would be difficult to archive. Although in other countries small groups have done just that.
I would like to see the Electoral College done away with and the popular vote used in its place.
IMO that's how elections should be conducted. Truly let the peoples speak and chose.

The problem I see is that there is no term limit for congress. We need term limits in place there so we don't have anymore Pelosi's, Kennedy's, etc. in office for their whole lives.

I agree with the general consensus, that we should be activists who demand that our representatives act in our best interest and according to our desires and wants, not those of an elite that has its own interests at heart (I'm specifically avoiding using the term Democrat, because we have some Republicans that fill the bill) and sees the inhabitants of this country not as citizens, but as subjects.

Still, with the constant and unrelenting march towards socialism, you have to wonder where the breaking point is...

AMEN BRO! Glad to see others feel the same!

I honestly never see it happening guys, things like this start small and by the time any group had built enough power to make ANY changes they would be labeled terrorists and swept under the rug so quick it would be scary. Plus in the modern day and age MOST people will take comfort over freedom , as long as they are fed the illusion of choice they keep their heads in blinders and carry on. Just my humble opinion. I still say we need to get back to our roots overall and reevaluate our values and morals as a whole.

I agree with the no violence approach as well. But I'll tell you some days you just wonder. Probably should start a new thread for this, but seems to fit here because it does really make my blood boil.

Navy don't take this wrong but some times you have a knack of finding that one little thing in the day that really PISS'S ME OFF!

Barney Frank - I could have gone all day without hearing that name!
Then I read what this jackass wants to do with our money- SOB - I'm pissed.

I need a drink now before I go on a absolute screaming rant here!!!:banghead::mad::banghead:

I believe the second amendment was written so that if need be the American People could defend themselves against the tyranny of the US government if it ever came to that. We are lucky that in 233 years we have not had to rise up. Our Fore Fathers had too so that they could have the Freedoms that we now have afforded to us.

Our Fore fathers had a breaking point. They were willing to risk it all for the Freedom of future generations.

Our leaders have us going down a path that will destroy the United States as we know it. The Taxes keep getting raised, while or rights are being constantly infringed upon. I fear how this country will be for my daughter. Will she still have the rights I was born with? Will she have to pay $200 for a loaf of bread? Or will she have to Leave this country to be free?

Leaders and do nothing parents are ruining our country. Whores like Madonna, Britney, and even Megan McCain couldn't get traction if more people parented.

I'm not a prude, bible thumper, or even uptight. However, I do know what is appropriate for my kids and spend a lot of time making sure they know how to live. Not saying I'm SuperDad, but, I do know there's no reason to cause yourself trouble, tempt the gods, laugh at karma, or to generally engage in ass-hattery. Since I don't want my kids living in my wallet or ruining their future, which means they never leave my wallet, I'm more than happy to keep things simple.

    EDIT:
The money thing, gun thing, and rights thing does bother the hell out of me.

    I wake up daily and hear yet another thing that pisses me off. This quote rings so true today;

" When the freedom they wished for most was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free and was never free again." Edith Hamilton

Actually.. it's happened, just on a small scale, here and there, but nothing nation-wide. Sometimes (usually?) against oppressive local conditions.

Just a few off the top of my head:

On a somewhat related note are the Deacons for Defense and Justice. Without these men, the civil rights movement would have never been able to survive. It wasn't actual insurrection, but it was using arms to make it possible to exercise the right to speech. "We'll have our say. Try and stop us and we'll stop you."

I'm ready. I have been writing Senators, calling legislators, and doing what I can, peacefully, to attempt to restore our country to us. If peaceful means work, then great. However, I see continued progression of Constitutional abuses. We need to band together and protest these abuses of the Constitution, either by the media, in writing, or in person. Take it as far as it needs and taking up arms should be the very last resort. If it ever gets to that point, it's going to be very bloody and very messy. I don't think that the average American is up to that.

@MadMo, what you're advocating is "mob rule". This is WHY we have a Republic.

Beating our chest for the Far right Christian Republicans will get us nowhere in the long run. Few Americans percentage wise are standing behind them anymore.

The real solution to this issue is for the American people to wake up and realize that pendulum leadership does nothing but slowly destroy this country. Pendulum leadership is electing one left wing leader after one right wing leader... over and over (as we have over the last 30 plus years). Over 80% of the population believes in a much more centralized form of leadership (somebody not extreme left or right), but as long as it is a "Pick D or R" vote on election day we don't have much of a chance of ever fixing anything. One party gets in power and tries to undo everything the last one did... then they get the boot and it starts all over from another direction. Total bullshit politics 101.

I see absolutely NOTHING wrong with having right wing views now... so don't think I'm against us being conservatives (which most of us are). Nothing could be further from the truth. We just have to be realists about this if we really want to get anywhere...

A new "American Party" based on the fundamentals of the constitution is what I propose... but nobody's listening.
