Thanks. One thing that I am worried about is how well the one in 9 twist Factory Barrel will handle 77 grain smk.

Play with loads. 62-77. That’s what I do. Most 1/8 and 1/9 will shoot the post 70’s good just gotta see what loads work best.

DO NOT shoot this config Sean while testing 77 grn SMKs - with the suppressor on it - as even with max velocity MK262Mod1 rounds and their higher MV/pressures - without the additional 4 inches (as my CR6724 has a 24" barrel, is 1/9 which I run custom 77 grn SMK red-line MK262 velocity rounds through and have for decades long before the MK262 Mod1 was developed) it is doubtful that the Remy above will stabilize the 77 grn SMKs. Hate to see ya mess up a new hush-puppy.

I'd stick with the 70 grn TSX or TTSX rounds pushed hard, as they fly pretty well and are real stoppers gamewise 2 legged or 4. I suspect ya "can" push those fast enough through the 5R 20" barrel.

It has been a long time my friend.

Thank you for the warning. How can you tell if it's stabilizing them at the muzzle?

Remove the bolt and see if you can see all the way through for one.

Prior to that shoot it with the heavy rounds and see if it keyholes.

I'll take a shot in the dark and say it will shoot them just fine. 80+? Maybe not but the 77s should do well. Of all the rifles Rem has put out recently, the only ones I've read anything actually good about are the 5Rs.

1:9 twist? It'll handle those rounds. As well as 1:8? That's up for debate but the 5R twist is known for good things.

If ya like I'll send ya a box or 2 of MK262Mod1 (Black Hills rounds, let me know or holler on the cell or come up to the farm sometime) - I'd shoot 'em 5 single rounds at five separate pasties without the hush-puppy at 50 then 25 then 10 yards and check the holes. Just be aware the keyhole effect may take 100 yards or more to show up. It's all dependent on the barrel internal id specs which can vary now days and tend to be on the "loose" side for safety - as old Clyde would tell ya even high dollar Krieger, Lilja and PacNor barrels, which are using "recycled" steel in their manufacturing processes have experienced a drop in quality, which he sees when cutting chambers in custom rifles. Voids were never something found in custom barrel steel decades ago, but he has found 'em at times when reaming chambers, say in the last 5-6 years (although he don't do much nowdays as he ain't in the best of health, but he can still shoot and only recently sold his 9+sec old Nova 1/4 mile drag car which he gave lessons to youngsters with).

Ever since CCM/Freedom Group bought Remington Arms I been abit leery of their QC and while older 5R barrels made by Remington have a great reputation not certain that the newer product is in the same class, I know my newer 700 SPS, AAC-SD 20" barrel while more than adequate accuracy-wise for hunting ain't really what I'd like to see in my long range clubs made with Krieger barrels by our old friend as he check'd mine and was not impressed and the X-Mark trigger followed the cheap stock to the trash bin immediately, your rifle above looks like it came with a much improved stock on it and looks quiet sweet, especially the S&B.

Thanks. I'm debating a new trigger.

I'll take you up on the offer. It will be worth it to see what the barrel will do.

I'm going to try a bunch of 5.56mm silencers and see what affect they have.

Initial sight in with FGMM 77gr SMKs and POI testing of an HTG Aris, TBAC 223P1 and a Gemtek Trek.
The 1:9 barrel seems to throw the 77 grain smk as without a problem. The groups are generally 1 Moa but there are occasional fires. Since these were the first rounds down the barrel we'll have to wait and see how well the barrel breaks in.

Everybody agreed that the HTG Heroes was the quietest suppressor of the three. Both the HTG Eros and the tbac 223 P1 had approximately 1 inch of shift. The shift is repeatable on the HTG. I will do further testing and confirm that the shift disreputable on the others.

Ready for initial Zero and some POI testing. Which suppressor will be the quietest? TBAC 223P1, HTG Aris, Gemtech Trek Ti on the Remington 700 Milspec 5r 20" barrel with a The larue mount is a 20moa from @laruetactical with Badger Ordnance rings and a Schmidt and Bender pm5-25.

The HTC Eris the quietest of the three according to everyone listening. This is of course an unscientific assessment based on the human ears perception of the sound.

The old TBAC 223P1 had a similar point of impact shift to the HTC Eris. The other people who were listening thought it was louder than the HTG and quieter than the Trek.

The Gemtech Trek TI. The loudest of the three and it had the largest amount of point of impact shift.

Tried the Surefire SOCOM556RC on the rifle. Shot 10 rds. If FGMM 77gr SMKs.

    2 odd things.
    1. The SOCOM556RC had 2.5moa down and 2.5moa left POI shift.
    2. The HTG Aris switched sides on its POI.
