From the Bearing Arms blog and Honolulu Police Department Facebook page; "This is a historic day when the right of the people to keep and bear arms is finally acknowledged in Honolulu. Chief Logan has signed the first CCW permit, the first permit issued in modern history for Honolulu." See photo.

Just like liberals everywhere taking credit for what the residents of HI should not have to ask anyone for permission for a right. For more kicks and giggles read the 500+ comments to the HPD Facebook post about the signing.

Democrat elite rulers (all of whom are socialist/communists) have to be dragged kicking and screaming to recognize the Constitution, and then they make out like THEY are giving "you people" something.

This is useless pedantry, I know, but the statement from the Hawaii Firearms Coalition is wrong about the history of carry permits. This isn't the first "in modern history."

~20 years ago, the Honolulu PD had a civilian armorer. They got him a carry permit. With that exception, though, it's been a very long time (if ever?) since HPD issued a CCW.

And thanks for the link to the comments. There's some fun reading there.

    From the Bearing Arms blog;

The 55 individuals who currently possess a valid concealed carry license in Honolulu (and the 800 others who are still waiting to be approved) could soon be barred from lawfully bearing arms in a wide variety of public settings after the city council approved a “sensitive places” law this week...This is about restricting as much as possible where those legal gun owners who’ve managed to jump through every hoop and over every hurdle the city put between them and their carry license can now bear arms without fear of prosecution.

Just a case of government sleight of hand; get CHL but one can't carry anywhere. No brainer lots of lawsuits to follow which will take years to sort out.

Police Chief Arthur “Joe” Logan told the Honolulu Police Commission this week that the department has now approved slightly more than 400 carry permits since they began issuing carry licenses late last year, including 175 over the past two weeks.

While getting a permit is getting faster the article discusses why it took so long. What was the hold up? Next issue is the entire state is almost a 'sensitive place' where one can't carry making the permit worthless. Court cases pending on that issue.

Read more at Bearing Arms blog.

Another lawsuit has been filed in the battle over gun control in Hawaii.

This time, the federal complaint is on behalf of gun owners who say the Honolulu Police Department is intentionally and unconstitutionally dragging its feet in issuing permits to carry concealed handguns.

So what we have is either exactly what the lawsuit alleges--that a police department long known to be hostile to the right to keep and bear arms is taking its sweet time in processing applications--or else the Honolulu Police Department is just so incompetent that they can't figure out how to do their job in this instance.

I'd like to feel bad for Hawaiians, but then I remember that they elected that Maisie Hirono PoS and just think "y'all found out that elections have consequences."

    ...they elected that...

I remember being so proud to sit in on a meeting between my dad and Senator Daniel K. Inouye. I was proud to shake his hand and thank him for all he had done for this country. Nowadays, I don't think people with the heart to earn a Medal of Honor are generally predisposed to seek high political office.

He was proof that you could be a Democrat and occasionally get things wrong but, overall, serve honorably. I wonder if Hawaii and the country as a whole will ever get back to that place.

I wonder too if the country will ever get back to that place.

Can anyone tell me what it is that democrats support and republicans don't that make democrat positions positive for this country? I can't think of a single reason really. I can't think of too many things that should be suppoted by anyone with an ounce of common sense. Does anyone have anything.....anything at all ?

The corruption runs so deep and the government wants absolute power over us, not looking very good.
