I have a Gen 1 Colt SAA that would like to get the frame case colored. It was originally 44-40 but someone in the recent past converted it to .45 Colt. The finish was stripped off the frame, so it is not much of a collector. That being said I want to make it pretty. I did a pretty decent job touching up the bluing on the other metal parts and made a nice set of rosewood grips for it. That leaves the frame.

    Any suggestions?
(I have looked at Turnbull, but was hoping for something a little less pricy. And more local.)

Too easy to mess up case colouring, stick with the experts. It will pay off if you ever sell it.
Doug T. was in Kerrville a few years ago, had a beer or two with him at The Cowboy - super nice guy.

Oh I had no intention of doing it myself.

IIRC there was a guy in Magnolia, Texas. No idea about his work.

Oh no, I understand but to get that stuff right means sacrificing roosters and a special dance.
