I'm looking into buying this spear M48 Kommando Talon Survival Spear
...but I'm confused by the wording of the laws as they're classed as illegal knives. Are spears illegal to own entirely in Texas or are they legal to keep in your own home? I do not intend to carry -- concealed, licensed or otherwise. Except you know, if things get seriously messed up and lawless.

As you found, spears are illegal knives. See penal 46.02 for the law regarding illegal knives. They are covered in 46.03 as well, but for your own premises see 46.02.

gosh darnit. I saw one at academy yesterday. waaaay friggin cool. Funny note: the tag has an operator looking guy in all black (black balaclava, helmet, etc) holding the spear. Yep, it's the ultimate operator tacticool breaching tool.
