I was in the area Sunday and stopped by Gander Mountain in Spring. They've completely re-done the store and cleaned up the mess that it had become over the years. They added a 25-yd indoor range and a new simulation range that's supposed to have stuff like hostage situations and such. Pricey? Yeah. And there's some sort of metal detector you have to go through to use the simulator. It looked like a couple of people were using them, but I wasn't really sure if they were 100% open.
The reason I mention the place is because they are supposed to have a grand re-opening this next weekend (Oct 29-30), so those of you in the area might want to watch the paper for specials. I'm not in any way affiliated with them, so I don't have any clue what - if any - bargains they might have. I'm just mentioning it so others might have a chance to snag something.
Did I find anything that enticed me to make a purchase? No. I used to buy ammo and some reloading stuff when they first opened, but over they years their prices soared and the quality of the operation nose-dived. Like I say, they did fix the place up, so it at least looks better. I didn't do a lot of pricing (the better half was with me and I figured its always best to play it cool), but some items looked competitive. Then again, there was a $500 flashlight that didn't seem to be anything special at all.
Like FoxNews says, I reported - you decide.
