    Prefer SS but either will do. Located in Pasadena but wouldn't mind going somewhere on a weekend

    Don't do it... Unless Taurus has done a 180 in the past 10 years, every Taurus I've ever inspected is gritty, ill-fitted junk. I would take my chances on a RIA before a Taurus. You should just save up and buy a Sig 1911 when they go on sale. You can regularly find $1400 MSRP 1911s for $700-800 or so.

    damn it...i even searched google for bad stories on this gun and coulndnt find anything, now all i get is this...i so torn

    yeah thats how i found out about them, i really liked it, i ran into one at a local shop and been reading up on them ever since

    I owned a PT1911 a while back. I never had any problems with it, sans a single failure to feed out of about 1300 rounds of WWB.
    thats mostly what i would read, i read one post where a guys friend was firing one at a range and the ambi safety fell off, but nothing other than that

    Likely was reinstalled wrong after taking it apart. I know I had my share of instances with most of the guns I owned, that I would install a part wrong, or forget one entirely because it rolled off the bench! Not the guns fault.
