    Felonies: 10 years for rape (if reported within 1 year of commission), arson or misconduct in office; 6 years for criminal profiteering or organized crime leadership; 5 years for Class C felonies; 3 years for lesser felonies; no statute of limitations for murder, arson causing death or any type of vehicular incident resulting in death; If a child under 14 is the victim of rape, the statutory period can extend until 3 years after the victim’s 18th birthday even if the 10-year statutory period has passed.


    Misdemeanors: 2 years for gross misdemeanors; 1 year for other misdemeanors

    Regardless of when the Statute of Limitations for a crime expires, the gun is still stolen and is the rightful property of the victim. You should really give it back to them.

    Unless it's in the hands of the rightful and proper owner, it's always going to be stolen property.
    And who ever has it besides the owner will be possessing stolen property.

    There you get into the weeds of the statute of limitations and if you knew it was stolen, was there some defense written into the law or case law, when it starts, when it ends, if it ends in your case and prosecutor discretion. Also why an internet board in another state is a piss poor place for legal advice.
