As someone who has had their storage room emptied by thieves, I never leave anything of great value in one. The only I one I have right now has unused scrap steel and the like from building the range.....

I would take my chances leaving a gun in the car first..............

I just randomly leave guns everywhere I go.

That way criminals and irresponsible people don’t even have to steal them.

And then I can buy more guns.

    (Note: This is sarcasm)

    Sort of.

When my wife cleaned out our storage building a year ago she asked me about "four heavy wooden boxes".

    I looked.
    Woo-hoo
6,300 rounds of mostly forgotten military ammo I'd stored maybe 1990. All 70s and 80s made.
All non-corrosive first world quality sealed military stuff.
    1,600 USA 5.56
    2,000 Brazilian 9mm
    1,000 German 7.62x51
    1,200 Chinese 7.62x39
Bonus...1,500 rounds of good CCI and Remington 22lr
    Score!!!!

    Ammo......the currency of the future.

    Helotes!
I know a guy who sold a Patterson Colt to Rick on Pawn Stars for 15K. He said there's a lot of pre-arranged stuff that goes on.

It is well known that Pawn Stars is scripted and that the prices have already been negotiated before filming starts; but I still find it entertaining, just not "reality"...

I have a buddy that owned a pawn shop.

    Pretty mundane and unglamorous.
Old cordless phones and fake diamonds from ex-fiancé's mostly.

Though it's like fishing at the coast, the thought that something monstrously big comes along in 10 minutes.

Pawn shops charge 240% APR (20% monthly non-compounding).
    It's an art.
Loan them a lot if you think they will pick it up and pay the interest.
Loan them little if they won't and you gotta' sell it.
Loan them nothing if it's serial #'ed and looks stolen because the police get it.

Pretty amazing business model and pretty dirty stolen stuff.

Pawn Stars shop also has no FFL and only deals in firearms that were made before a certain date. Yes, it is scripted.

Might as well have been a storage unit....... I recently renovated my mother-in-law's house (after she passed) to get it looking pretty before listing it for sale. Found weapons (2--22 (1 in closet-back of shelf, 1 up in the attic-between floor rafters) rifles, one 20 gauge (attic-hanging in case on rafter even with the rafter) shotgun and a pellet rifle (outside under the covered back porch/sunroom in a niche between the fireplace and house siding.
My F-I-L had passed twenty years prior and had been infirm for 4-5 years before his passing. Was a Ukrainian refugee and a German work camp survivor (Both of them were) and he knew what happened when the government had all the guns.
