I received a letter from my representative, David Farabee, 69th district about the summary of the 81st . Below is the letter:

In an effort to keep you updated, below is an end of session response on handgun legislation filed for consideration during the 81st Legislature:

SB 1188 (relating to the interstate purchase of certain firearms)
Passed both the House and Senate, was signed by the Governor on May 30 and became effective immediately. I supported SB 1188 when it came before the House Floor on final passage

HB 410 (lifts the legal obligation of a concealed handgun license holder to display the license holder's handgun license when asked for identification)
Passed the House Floor, but was left pending in the Senate Criminal Justice Committee at the end of the Session. I supported HB 410 when it passed the House Floor.

SB 730 (relating to an employee's transportation and storage of certain firearms o ammunition while on certain property owned or controlled by the employee's employer.)
SB 730 passed the Senate, was reported favorably out of the House Public Safety Committee and placed on the House Floor Calendar for May 23. However, the deadline passed to hear Senate Bills on the House Floor before SB 730 came up for consideration. I was a House Sponsor of SB 730.

HB 3777 (relating to a perpetual license to carry a concealed handgun)
This legislation was left pending in the House Public Safety Committee and did not come before the House Floor for consideration.

HB 1863 (relating to exempting the intrastate manufacture of a firearm, a firearm accessory or ammunition from federal regulation)
HB 1863 passed favorably out of the House Public Safety Committee and was sent to the Calendars Committee to be scheduled for consideration on the House Floor. However, the Session ended before HB 1863 was scheduled for the House Floor.

SB 1164 (relating to the carrying of concealed handguns on the campuses of institutions of higher education)
SB 1164 passed the Senate, was reported favorably out of the House Public Safety Committee toward the end of the Session and was sent to the Calendars Committee to be scheduled for consideration on the House Floor. However, the Session ended before SB 1164 was scheduled for the House Floor.

Please let me know if you would like additional information on these of any other issues that came before the 81st Legislature. The opportunity to be of service is always appreciated.

    Best Regards,
    David Farabee

We have got to do something about the members of that Calenders Committee. They have stalled many good pieces of legislation and they are just "playing" politics with all of us. We need a list of all the members and make sure they don't get re-elected. This has got to stop. Good or bad, all bills need to come up for a fair up or down vote and this stalling by the Committee has to go. They know when the deadlines are and they just stall what ever they don't like.

Thank you very much for posting that. It's good to see the final result, the result I think we expected, but absolutely sucks that some of the most important ones were tucked away an sat on intentionally.

It's time to make sure people who live in certain folks districts learn what kind of person their district elected, and make a change.
