HAHA, sorry a "woobie" is the nickname I have always known for the insulating poncho liners. Most common are the woodland camo ones, but they make them now in Marpat, ACU, even multi-cam for different branches/units. So I know they are around. It is essentially a blanket that can be tied into a standard poncho for warmth, they make awesome general purpose blankets and a serve as a "quick blind" as well.

One of the very few things I brought back from Vietnam. Its thin, very thin, been washed a jillion times since I got back with it, one of the Army's greatest inventions.

LOL Awesome. I had my dad's as a kid too, he had it when he was stationed in Germany in the 1970's and I used it so much it essentially fell apart. They are great.

i slept with mine for months and months and have gotten spares, perfect all year, warm in the winter and cool in the summer! I would make my rack and just sleep with a liner!

I cut a hole in the middle of one of my poncho liners, taped the cut edged with 100mph tape and now have an awesome poncho.

A thousand times yes to all the poncho liner posts - great piece of gear. I've got the original I purchased in 1979, plus a newer one. Gonna have to look for one in the new camo pattern.
