SVT-40 Plum Bolt ?

Does anyone know why The Russians had a Plum Bolt and Non-Plum Bolt for the SVT-40 ? Why Did the Russians Do this ?

My best guess......it was done during re-arsenal....my plum bolt has an electro penciled number as does the one on the above photo....

I need to find my SVT 40 in one my cabinets to look at the bolt. I think it has a plum colored bolt.

It means its gone through the re-arsenal process.

It was reblued during the refurb process. It was originally left in the white by the factory. The plum color comes from the high nickel content in the metal.

yup it was sent back to be repaired and stored for future wars.
