Austin's Northeast/Central area is COVERED in cops right now. About 4am several calls came in about a shooting. Initially its been 3 armed individuals in the area. More than likely a botched drug deal. One story was that folks were simply playing volleyball and these dudes just started shooting. Yeah right. One person died from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. I'm sure this'll make the news and the fact that an AK is involved will amp up the hysteria. I'm sure the police are thinking back to the LA bank robbery gone bad in 1997 when the infamous AK was used to outgun the police. Not to mention the closer to home San Marcos PD officer who was involved in a shootout against an asshole with an AK. I'll update with anything I get and can share.

The annoying thing is that North Hollywood Bank Robbery was used to really scare people about a great many things. Though if you really looked at it, those two individuals showed a real peculiar and above average effort in what they did. I mean they carved up multiple kevlar vests to create body armor for their arms, legs, and extra for their torsos (I believe they were wearing several vests). On top of that they had a trunk full of guns, and the big thing is they were largely using AP rounds which were obviously pretty devastating in such an urban environment. Most criminals are not nearly that determined or ambitious, they just want the easy score.

Nail on the head. Those guys were ready for just about anything and is STILL used as propoganda!

PS: the one guy who died in this case was killed by an APD cop...too bad it wasnt by an armed citizen :)

Looks like its mexican mafia related...5 suspects, all wearing body armor and long guns (nothing specific)

Should get interesting now that the remaining BG's are losing the advantage of darkness

Anyone in the 290/Cameron area, make sure you're carrying!!!

First thing to go through my mind after they mentioned armor and long guns. Didn't even thnk about LA. Not in the same league in my not to professional mind. Seems very similar to the guys nabbed in AZ a while back who executed a hit for some Mexican drug ring. Not 100% on this but I think those guys turned out to be Mexican military. I'll bet dollars to donuts this was a drug related thing. Maybe the border wars are spreading abut further north that originally thought.

I bet it's not even an AK-47, it's probably a tacticool SKS. SKSs get called AK-47s so often by the mainstream media, I have my doubts.

The annoying thing is with the threat of islamic extremism, and all of the problems with our borders and drug cartels, and then to top it all off the Dems STILL want to disarm us! It is amazing to me that anyone can be that shallow. When faced with foreign threats like that, if anything we should be encouraged to buy guns and provide in our own defense.

Update from an APD officer I talked to today: One KIA, two arrested, and two possible BGs fitting the description out in West Texas that got pulled over by DPS. No word if they are the 2 in question.

I'm just glad one of them got gassed by APD. One less pile of shit on the streets. I feel bad for the cop since he'll have to deal with this, but it's all in the job.

This one really got me. The bill was introduced by a Republican and co-sponsors by four Republicans. Where do we turn to when our side is against us too?

That's precisely why everyone should be so angry with the standard divide and conquer game between R vs. D, and we should ALL vote independent. If we could all work together to get someone independent voted into the white house, that would send a real clear message that we're tired of their BS.

Hmm, I spy what looks to be like a New Eagle bone conduction headset on the guy to the right. Very nice and expensive gear indeed, if it is.

For those not in the industry, the main group of Narco-Terrorists of late seems to be the "Zetas"...most are American trained fromer Mexican military. For some reason, the U.S. military helps train these guys to fight drug cartels. Once they have the skills, they give up their Mexican military job that pays like $4 day and they sell their skills to the cartels to help expedite drug shipments or take care of any other "business" as needed for 1000 times as much as they made in the army.
Several documented cases of them crossing and coming deep into Texas to take care of business. They have also been involved in numerous shootouts with LE in the Rio Grande Valley area.
I consider myself pretty calous to alot of cop stories but a close friend who is a Trooper and works in McAllen tells me stories that make my jaw hit the floor!
News covers very little as it is not politically correct and might create a public outcry to tighten the border.

I don't know if there is any truth to this, however I've even heard that RPG's have been involved in some of the attacks against Border Patrol somewhere along the border of Texas.

Wow - hadn't heard about RPGs. I knew most of the border crossings had jeep escorts that had your standard .50 BMG mounted on the back. These weren't Humvees, but the old-era jeeps. Even a .50 is quite a bit more fire power than the Border Patrol guys get for backup.

Yeah, it's not politically correct to report true invasions across our southern border. Well, not when the libs think we should legalize all of the drugs and dissolve the borders around our country in any case.

I hope they nix the trans-Texas Corridor. Otherwise, things are going to get even more ridiculous. What the heck is Perry thinking? $$$, I guess
