I went to Gander Outdoors yesterday. A member here mentioned them in another thread.
I didn't share his experience, although he seemed pretty focused on ARs, and I don't mess with them, so I don't know about that.
But, I walked most of the store, and found it just as useless as I did Gander Mountain .

If I see one I would check them out. Gander never had much for me but always worth a look at a new store.

Agreed, most times I see a new store open I go in just for a look. At worst you wasted a little time. At best you could find a great deal on guns or ammo.

The Gander Mountain that opened here and later closed. Is now a Halloween store.

Compared to Academy. They weren't that specialised.

In my town Gouger Mountain was the best salesman ever for Academy which was 1/2 mile down the road from them.

I would look at stuff in GM and then go buy it for less at Academy. Evidently I was not alone. I would always see other people buying at Academy that were at GM the same time I was.

When GM had a store in Sherman Tx I can honestly say nothing was a bargain (ever) and the rudest folks I’ve ever dealt with. Even their going out of business “clearance sale” was a joke. Was not a fan and didn’t mind seeing them leave. Academy is a better choice imo.
