    In the woods...
    Sorry for your loss.

Currently dealing with heart issues at 57 related to pretty much continual atrial flutter. I have an ablation scheduled for next month. I've always been active but I'm in a high-stress job that I'm convinced is a MAJOR contributing factor. I plan to retire within the next few months.

Have you tried a cheat meal once a week?
Had to google cheat meal. Lol. Not sure if it applies to me. Weight isn’t an issue but I do snack a lot. I eat less large meals now that I’m slowing down. Actually my current job has me sitting viewing data for warehouse selections. So I’m definitely trying to be smart with my breakfast. Oatmeal, a banana, water, a little bit of coffee, and for lunch I’ll have a chicken sandwich. Dinner is what I’m failing at.

Here’s a question for you guys. Is not drinking something you do? I’m thinking of not having anymore beer. Also not gonna buy chips or soda. But the no beer thing thought I’d see if any of you do it.

    I basically quit drinking.
    Close to 10 years probably.
Not because it was a problem, just my choice.
I "might" drink a margarita once or twice a year

What's the point of living longer without beer?

Think about these 2 things when shopping for food.

Try to get more of your food in the outer isles of the grocery store. That’s where the fresh produce and other unprocessed good stuff is.

Try to eat more food that don’t have a bar code on it or comes in a box.

    BTW.
I quit potato chips but enjoy Cheetos and Fritos pretty often.
    Low carb.
Low carb yeah, but high in fat and calories.

1 gram of protein or carbohydrate is about 4 calories
1 gram of fat is 9 calories

Low carb all you want, but if you are eating more calories then you are burning...you’ll gain weight over time.

    You've met me.
I lost 10 lb in the last 3 weeks. Just avoiding bread.
That's a bunch for a guy my size. Sure. Those wraps and salads just naturally have fewer calories. I'm not counting though.
Pretty much just gave up cheeseburgers.

'Top of the hill, Kerr County!
For some unknown reason, I've had no health problems all my life. It's not because I don't have a healthy diet, because I don't. I think working out with weights and running for 25 years ( not in the last 10 though!) may have been the reason. For some unknown reason, I've maintained my good health. Hopefully it will continue into my late 70s and 80s.

Holy crap really? Just by not eating bread? Wow. Yes I need to stop doing all fast food. I prefer to bbq anyway and I don’t feel like garbage after eating.

I can't lose weight by dieting alone or by working out alone. I have to do both.

And, actually, diets don't work for me. I had to change my eating habits. Many times it's just a matter of making "better bad choices."

I worked out like a madman for years - jogging and weights. Then a series of minor injuries (knee, back, hamstring, another knee, foot, etc.) got me off my game. And I gradually gained a few pounds here and a few there. Now I need to lose 15 pounds. Bought a spin bike and getting ready to get after it.
