Tax stamp "lost in transit"

Check cashed on 11/3.
Called ATF today, said my tax stamp was sent to the dealer 4 weeks ago.
Called dealer today, they have not received anything from the ATF.

Dealer calls ATF.
Dealer must mail a form to the ATF, then ATF will mail replacement tax stamp to dealer.

So I've got another week or two of waiting.
Sigh...

In any event, I don't have the stamp so a new one will have to be requested.

I'm not saying our government is slow or inefficient or anything, but perhaps you should edit your original post to include the year too, just in case this drags out.

If the ATF told you it was "mailed" 4 weeks ago, they lied. Most likely, it was approved 4 weeks ago. You're at the upper end of the "reasonable" time for them to send it out. They have 30 days to mail after approval... so it still may show up.

The gal I spoke with at the ATF instructed me to contact my dealer, who could then call ATF for a replacement.
