    Teachers are there to teach...
Not impart what they like or dont like!
If he was disruptive or interfering with class. Ok
But other than that. Go pound sand God did say we would come under attack.
    So no suprise there

At first, before reading the article, I was willing to give the teacher the benefit of the doubt. A lot on here like to bash on teachers and cops before knowing the truth about what really goes on. HOWEVER, if it was free reading time as the article states, and he wasn't forcing it upon anyone else, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with him reading the Bible. I'm far from religious, but I won't stop you from being religious. Had it been porn, or of the like, then I would have understood.

My parents were teachers, my wife is a teacher. I grew up on their side of the argument. That being said, this teacher should be fired.

Wasn't singling you out specifically. Just in general a lot bash teachers and cops without knowing the whole story. I work in a school. I'm in the classroom seeing and dealing with these kids. Most of the troublemakers either come from single parent homes or they have "parents" that don't care and blame everything on the schools. They also expect the schools to teach their kids everything and to raise their kids for them. Yet at the same time, they complain that we aren't doing it right. If parents would actually do their job and take part in raising their kids, then we would be better off as a nation. Most teachers I have worked with are trying their best to give the kids the best education and prepare them for the rest of their lives. A lot of kids I deal with never come to class with supplies, even with repeated parent contact. I personally have spent my meager earnings on providing some of these kids with supplies or even putting money in their lunch accounts so they can eat.

While most teachers are looking out for the kids, there are those like in the article. We teachers try to get rid of them harder than is realized. We don't need these few demonizing the majority. Unfortunately though the public hears all about the bad, but never recognize the good.

I'm not religious at all. I come from a house hold where my parents were of different religious backgrounds and they decided it should be my choice. They exposed me to both at a young age and poof the result is a guy who has no interest in organized religion. However I have studied religion many religions much of my life. They are interesting especially from a historical view. Christianity especially being one of the younger religions it is interesting to see how it had morphed and been changed and split and changed again as it was attacked and assimilated by different kingdoms through early Europe. The bible belongs In schools right along side the Torah and the Koran and well the Dead Sea scrolls and they should be read discussed and analyzed in context of history and the time and place in which influential people of the time drew upon those texts to change the course of history. As far as the moral and religious doctrine as to how one should govern their lives well that's what mom and dad are for and plenty of time in church or temple for that

Daughter came home today and said they debated the pros and cons of same sex marriage in her class. Only issue is they couldn't bring up religion.

Unreal. Of course not. That way it is all based on emotion and the rule of man not the rule of law. Also in a big way that frames the debate to were only slippery ethics can be applied not morality.

You've got to know when to use a Bible and when to use a rifle.

if it was free time to read and she denied him reading the Bible, they might have a 1st Amendment case.

the only way to stop this crap is to sue the hell out of them every time they do this.

The hard left wants/requires a immoral society to feed off from to build their socialist/communist society, the whole idea is you worship government not GOD. Teachers(not all)are a product of very liberal colleges therefore they push the liberal agenda.
