    Texan first

    American by default

I mean that with no disrespect. When folks think of Texans they think of proud arrogant SOBs. You know Texans are American.

I suppose of there was a bar fight between America and Texas, I'd be on Texas' side

"I suppose of there was a bar fight between America and Texas, I'd be on Texas' side"

That's Texan, until some other country tries to join in the bar fight then it's American. Sorta like siblings, we may fight each other but when an outsider tries to fight us we become one again.

That sounds like a pretty good way to put it

Up until the time I retired, in the Great State of Texas, I would have said an American. After settling here I discovered that Texans are unique. They still hold true to values and principles. I am one that says "I was not born here but I got here as fast as I could". I do not care much for the direction our country is and has been going for some years now. We used to be a country of Americans with wonderful influence from the influx of legal immigrants. We are becomming a country of immigrants, both legal and illegal, who want to change this wonderful country to be more like the countries they left. I do not understand that. Too much greed in both the political and business arenas. Too many power grabbers for self satisfaction. I could go on and on but I think you get the idea. God Bless America and Our Brave Troops.

I'm right there with you. The direction our country has been heading, I am much more for a republic of Texas. I love the U.S. Constitution, but in my opinion the politicians who run America do not and they make a mockery of it everyday. Personally, I still think Texas should secede. We can adopt the U.S. Constitution as our own (with a few repairs, of course). Anyways...

I'm a born and raised Texan. I've been here most of my life, minus a stint in the Army and some rambling when I was young. So I voted Texan. That said, I probably would have voted American when I was younger, but I'm really tired of hearing labels such as "African-American", "Mexican-American", Asian-American", or name your other hyphenated American. So I've generally started telling people I'm Texan-American until everyone decides they just want to be American, with no hyphens. Then I can get on board with that.

I was not born here, but that was not my fault, I have lived here most of my life and will always claim Texas as my home. Texan til the day I die. I also am an American, and will feel ever so much prouder when we vote our next President into office and Obama out of his oriface.

    I voted Texan

I'm a Texan, and I will be forever. I was born in Texas and lived there until my obligations to the Navy sent me elsewhere. Now that I'm moving back in four months, I get more excited every day about moving back to the most decent place in the world, and I can say that because I've been all over the world. God willing, I hope to die in Texas too. It would be the greatest end I could imagine.

Another non native Texan, that got here and found Texas to be more than expected. My kids who were elementary and middle schoolers when we moved here, all thoroughly identify themselves as Texans.

I'm an American who believes in the Constitution, which is being shredded and re-constructed as a "living" document by those who wish to disregard the fundamental meaning of the document and implement their own version of a "constitution"

As such, I think we are being pushed closer and closer to having to make some very fundamental and difficult decisions.

    Texan.
