I just bought a new truck bringing our vehicles and drivers to three, including my teenager.

Amica wants to double my premium from $700 to $1400 per month.

That's right. The insurance would be more than the truck payment and my total insurance bill would be damn near as much as my mortgage!

Wow, and I thought mine was high @ $287 for three cars and one male <25. We're currently with Geico, but we switch every now and then to chase a good deal.

    You pay $700/monthly for two?

I pay like 2k/yearly for two.
Of course I have my house with same company.

I pay $125 for car insurance a month and $175 a month for home insurance a month. $ less than 100 a year for motorcycle insurance. All with progressive. I tried USAA but I hate their customer service and I live close enough to go there in person.

My agent got me a Progressive policy once. I told him get something else or I would find a new agent.

I havent had any issues with them. Ice also had farmers, state farm and tried usaa for a short stint. I find progressive to have good rates for me, easy to use website and app.

We were with Allstate from 2007 until about a month ago.

FINALLY, about 28 years after I got out of the Army, I called USAA.

Saved us almost $3200 a year on 7 cars, 5 houses. ANd that's with MORE coverage on our home and rent houses.

Our son was off of our policy in January of this year, and our daughter has been off for over a year, so this savings is independent of them being independent :)

They don't write policies on motorcycles in Texas, but I only carry liability on those, so they're already pretty cheap.

Call USAA if you you're eligible.

You need a klunker. Comprehensive coverage only.
List your teen as primary driver on the klunker.
It's not uncommon. Hell, my agent recommend I do it.
The old 1998 f150 has paid for itself in premium savings alone.

I’m a lifelong USAA guy, too.

But I will say that we just switched our homeowners insurance to Nationwide. For our situation, we have a slightly lower deductible but saved nearly half in our premiums.

Not totally sure why but I’ll take it.

I plan on pitting at least 1 company against the incumbent every year from now on. I'm kicking myself for having possibly lost +-$30k over the last 10 years on this.

Best option is to trade in the teenager on an older model. Preferably one who has moved out of the house. If said teenager is a boy, you'll also save considerably on the grocery bill.

Otherwise, go with Vaquero's suggestion. Get a clunker with liability and uninsured motorist only.

I would at least look into Germania.

I've been with them for almost 20 years and priced around last year, nobody could beat them for car or house insurance. Granted my teens never cost more than $350 for all four cars a month. They're gone and I pay less than $100 for a 2016 SUV and a 2019 loaded Wrangler.
