Sec. 23. RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS. Every citizen shall have the right to keep and bear arms in the lawful defense of himself or the State; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms, with a view to prevent crime.

doe's this mean if the rest of the country is screwed gun wise that we might be relatively safe due to the fact that texas has its own constitution and it actually says "EVERY CITIZEN SHALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS"?

Most States have their own Constitution. It's all about the 10th amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The problem is the Federal Government is trying to supersede the states RIGHTS to make their own laws!

Most States have their own Constitution. It's all about the 10th amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The problem is the Federal Government is trying to supersede the states RIGHTS to make their own laws!

Hence the causality of the Civil War, and the ensuing rape of state rights ever since.

The state laws mean virtually nothing these days when there is a federal mandate. Case and point is the BATFE and their superior ability to create their own free will.
