During a Rotary Club Luncheon presentation today by a veteran hunter education expert for Texas Parks & Wildlife, I was surprised to discover that the Texas hunting industry would be the 11th largest company on the Fortune 500 list of companies if so designated. If my memory serves me, it runs somewhere in the $11.5 billion range annually.

And, I believe, that doesn't include all the derivative revenue that might come from gun owners not involved in hunting. I just thought the stats reflect a profoundly powerful lobby in Texas.

That would put them about #230 on the Fortune 500 listing (based on revenues).

Still big, but no where near #11 - Bershire Hathaway with 118 billion.

Either way, it's obvious to see how certain future bills could have a greater effect on our economy, especially locally, than it would on anything else.
