    BRS = Black Rifle Syndrome (inflicts many AR-15 owners)

    Ammunition
    FMJ = Full Metal Jacket ("plain" projectile with jacket around exposed part of bullet)
    TMJ = Totally Metal Jacket ("plain" projectile with jacket completely enclosing bullet) ... I believe that this term is trademarked by a bullet manufacturer
    SP = Soft Point ("plain" projectile with some exposed lead, some jacket)
    JHP = Jacketed Hollow Point (jacketed projectile with a hollow in the front of the round to promote expension upon impact)
    FMJBT = I've seen two uses. Full Metal Jacket Boat Tail (FMJ projectile with a taper on the end of the bullet to reduce drag). Also inaccurately as Full Metal Jacket Ballistic Tip (Hollow point projectile with a plastic "nose cone" in the hollowpoint to reduce drag and somewhat assist bullet expansion upon impact
    API = Armor Piercing
    API = Armor Piercing Incendiary
    APIT = Armor Piercing Incendiary Tracer
    gr = grains (1/7000th of a pound), used for bullet and power charge weights
