    Any movement today?

    No sir.

Do we need to turn up the heat?

Texas Gun Rights has this handy link to send hot wheels, DP, and your Senator a polite message to support the bill. Like reading the good book, I do this once a day.

    Proposed amendments:

Verbiage to address carrying while "impaired".

Terry Stop will likely be allowed.

Amend "felon" to read "violent felon".

Schools and hospitals to be "off-limits" (as LTC currently is).

Have DPS produce and make available online "training".

STAY ON THE PHONES to your Senators, folks!!!
I can't say that I oppose any of these.

I don't like the Terry Stop being allowed - but it's something I can "live with" until a future session. Just as the original CHL legislation, there were things in it that folks didn't like, but rather than kill the entire bill, folks were smart enough to get it passed, knowing we could fine-tune it later - which we've been doing. I'd rather see it NOT in there - but if that appeases the likes of CLEAT et al, fine - there's always another day to get it removed.

Why the heck are hospitals off limits?
While I don't agree with it, I DO understand it. Emotions can run VERY high in a medical setting - the concern is that someone would "go over the edge" in the passion of the moment.

Purely a guess on my part, but I wonder if it has to do with some of the diagnostic testing equipment used. Like the MRI machines and those similar?

I can sort of see most of them. But not the Terry Stop. If someone is doing something otherwise legal, stopping them to see if they are legal is wrong. And if I am not mistaken, unconstitutional.
A Terry Stop is not different than a search without PC. Just because a cop does not like the way you look.
Or just flat don't like you.......

Exactly...and SAYING it's "legal" in the bill will NOT make it otherwise - so, in the long run it's going to be unenforceable - and a lot of cities will likely find themselves being sued for it.

Are hospitals off limits for LTC? They need to be posted if they are I believe.

I deleted my post asking what statute but after reviewing 46.03 again I think that hospitals are required to post 30.06/07

Hospitals make sense as they are something you don't want to be in (patient) when 'locked-down'.
State Gov meetings don't make sense aka, no laws that are 'special' for Gov. Equal rights as private company.

Perhaps for CC hospital will be a no go but for LTC they need to post. I personally don’t think hospitals should be off limits. Just another gun free zone. If LEO can be there I should be able to be there.
