Texas Legislature Online - How to

Want to keep up with all the bills going though the Texas Legislature House and Senate like a pro?

It helps if you start at the beginning of a session but I'll catch you up.

Let's start at the home page: TLO

Simple Search for a Bill

Searching for a bill from the home page. Put SB to search for a Senate Bill or HB to search for House Bill. Click Help for other types of legislation.

More Advanced Searching

From the home page click Text Search

Enter a string of text search words.
Mine are: firearm weapon weapons firearms handgun rifle handguns rifles pistol pistols concealed knife knives

From your search find out what's going on with the bill.

Personalizing Searches and Alerts

Now that you've found bills you want to track here is how to personalize searches, bill lists and alerts.

Registration

From the home page click the login button.

Register an Account.

Personal Pages

Once activated go back to the home page and click MYTLO

From MYTLO search you can setup a search.

Go back to Text Search. Once You Have the Search You Want to Save, Look To the Upper Right and Hit Save Search.

Lable the Search and Save

Now from MYTLO you have an option to run or load and run your saved searches.

That's fun but how about getting some emails when bills move?

Well, from your search results, find the bill you'd like to track and hit the Texas Map to the side.

Select Add To Aleart List

From MYTLO You'll Find an Easy to Manage List of Alearts.

Add Bill to List Does Saves a Group of Bills You're Interested in.
