    "The Legislature should consider ways to make it easy, affordable, and beneficial for a private seller of firearms to voluntarily use background checks when selling firearms to strangers." {emphasis added}

    For all those accusing Abbott of selling out, you can apologize to him now. Nothing there to hurt the 2nd A.

    Nothing to address the root causes, however. Nothing on restoring the family in our society, restoring values and morals, etc.

    Thanks for posting this, Big.

    Saw his face on TV report, seems like he'd rather let the Feds fight it out and save his political ammo for another battle. Let Lt Gov take the heat. Funny, read the Texas gun history post here and tried to investigate a little on my own. Seems our unconstitutional gun restrictions from 1870 were known to be anti constitution and (Austin was at most 4k pop. then) but s few didn't want blood in the streets. Well, law was pretty scarce back in those days and most 'murders' appeared to be real assassinations anyway. Just a very few street shootouts. Some of those were by rival 'gangs'. Like the Quantrel raiders. So we were legally (does sound like nobody obeyed) prevented from carrying out side the home! Took til the 80's to fix that?
