    You are all wrong. I am not questioning your "Historical Facts" it is the tone and the fact that you say "They". The thing I was talking about was the above sentence and that is why I put it in bold. I take offense to you saying "they" still think everything is free. I am not on a Racist headhunt or tangent, but thought this blatant disrespect for other human beings could not be ignored. If you did not mean it in that way then I understand but I simply did not think the way you said it was appropriate.

    What disturbs me more is that I have read in other threads on here where people got pissed off about the use of the word "Rape or "Slut" but this is over looked.

    Is that all? Well I couldn't very well say "we". I'm not in the group that acts that way. What would you have me say? Those fine and upstanding models of society thought that free meant free everything, and those role models still do. Better? ;) Gee whiz! Oops! I said whiz. Someone will take offense. I'm sorry. I don't do PC and I don't respect them. How could I? What I said is a fact. Anybody who says that they can't find work, ain't been lookin'. You can always find something to do. Any work is honerable work. Some of it may be dirty and hot but it's more honerable than sitting on your behind spending MY money. No respect intended.

    I have no beef with what you said now that we have explored it more. I promise you I am not someone that is PC or expects anyone else to be. My initial reaction to your comment may have been a little harsh and quick but that's why I said I hoped I misunderstood it. Obviously I did so its all good now.

    What happened to us?

    The problem with our country goes much deeper than our basic values. Our survival instincts, in a world without real threats to our lives, have only developed into insatiable greed. As Texans, most of us know how to live off the land and take care of our own. We would never have the desire to exhaust all of our natural resources for personal gain. However, many years ago(can't say when it all started) a few very selfish and greedy people(mostly european immigrants) decided that they should do just that. They took it all from the real natives of this country and formed political parties to further exploit populations of people and impose their values and belief systems. The same concepts have been perpetuated for hundreds of years. Now a days the hardest working people are taxed the most and given the least. We encourage corporations with huge tax incentives and give them rights like a person would have. Meanwhile, their CEOs rake in the money that the employees are actually earning. The resources that should be socialized(water supply, oil, etc.) are not. In a country where we regulate the price of a gallon of milk but not gasoline, something has gone wrong. Instead of being innovators, we have become marketers. Things like the microchip(Developed by TX Instruments) are immediately sold for profit with no regard for the population which these inventions serve or the impact their future development will have on us. We no longer compete to provide the best quality of anything, only to sell the most of it. The birth of the internet will result in the Death of almost ALL retail businesses. It will also perpetuate the vicious cycle of "getting yours" and not creating jobs(because you too can have your own website and employ no one) or contributing to local infrastructure. I hope everyone enjoys the steady rise of taxes and decreasing value of the dollar as our continued greed drives the distribution of wealth even farther apart. Saving that 5 bucks from your internet purchase will just mean that you pay that much more for everything else. No local tax money = Texans pay more for it later. Our system is already way too far gone. Seceding will only create the same thing we have today, a system of wealthy and powerful people controlling the rest of the population. Sadly, the only solution to our problem is the complete rebuilding of our government and total elimination of the middlemen in the corporate world who dictate what things are worth and why. If it were up to me, I would be happy to exchange my trade skills for yours with no money or middleman involved. That is how the USA was once, back when we really had some freedom.

    Very well put. But if Texas does secede there will be changes and alot of the people that have led to these problems will probably leave because Texas would be a hostile enviroment to them. I am all for the secesion of Texas from the Union it will get everyones attention and will show others we dont have to put up with this shite anymore. But thats just my 2 cents.

    Wait a minute. First you're talking against socialism and now you want socialism by regulating how much an employee (CEO's are employees too) can make? The CEO doesn't determine his own salery. The owners of the company do. The share holders. Without the CEO and if you regulate all of the profits out of the company, the rest of the employees might as well go and find another job because that company is through.

    Belief, it was divine inspiration, how the Good Book was wrote. The best set of God given rights on the planet. Citizen regulated government. Commies hate it. So they infiltrated our colleges and run our kids schools like prisons, 'up against the wall kid' style.
    They have been trying to shred it from the start, with the same 'Planks' and 'Rules for Radicals'. We should of listened to Kennedy and Reagan. They tried to warn us. We sat on the couch, the wide screen high Def TV won the war for these leaders of corruption.
    They bring up the same kind of bill every year. There is only about ten good apples left in the bushel. It's so bad we have to through away the basket. Don't tread on me, and don't mess with TEXAS. I was born at Lacklin AFB. SA. I'm a Texan, an American, and will not die on my knees. We need to enforce the 9th and 10th amendment clause we voted in. I will not comply with the 'change', I have my own security, and will live my days out doing what God wants, not what Evil commands. Come on Judas!

    Wow fisherman, I am sure you would do great completely on your own without social benefits like police, fire and ems services. Although it might be hard to keep all that money you earn with only 2 trigger fingers and no one to get your back. We already have several "social" aspects to our government. I am just suggesting that we collectively decide which things are most important to socialize(E.G. regulating price of a gallon of gas vs. gallon of milk). BTW I am self employed and currently own a retail/service business but have worked all of my adult life in blue-collar jobs that are the backbone of this country.

    Wow fisherman, I am sure you would do great completely on your own without social benefits like police, fire and ems services. Although it might be hard to keep all that money you earn with only 2 trigger fingers and no one to get your back. We already have several "social" aspects to our government. I am just suggesting that we collectively decide which things are most important to socialize(E.G. regulating price of a gallon of gas vs. gallon of milk). BTW I am self employed and currently own a retail/service business but have worked all of my adult life in blue-collar jobs that are the backbone of this country.[/QUOTE]

    Having a police force isn't socialism. Civilized people (towns, counties and states) have always hired someone to do the policing and what not. Having peace keepers is just part of having a freer society. We don't need to regulate the price of milk of gasoline. With competition, the market will determine what it's worth. The reason that those things cost so much now is government interference. So I still say, we don't need no stinking socialism.

    Karl Marx's mother once said to Karl, "I wish for once, you would go out and earn some capital instead of always talking about it." He was a big socialist mooch. He mooched off friends and family alike and made his wife and children live in squaller. If they had welfare like we have, he would have been on it. I don't know why people give his sappy ideas the least bit of credence.

    I pointed out the gallon of milk idea because OUR government already regualtes the price of milk but NOT gasoline. A local dairy farmer doesn't even have the oppurtunity to compete and set their own price. It does not allow a free market to even develop but it will allow foreign powers to bring our working class people to their knees by not regulating gas prices. Although it's not defined as socialism, I consider all public services to be social entities provided by local, state and federal governing bodies. It's not all soup lines and handouts, it's real world services you could never provide or get on your own. I would agree with you about Capitalism but history(recent) has already proven you wrong and what we have today in this country is far from "Raging unbridaled capitalism". It is a corporate monarchy with CEOs and big money interests controlling the government, the media and the market. Having "peace keepers" is clearly a system of control and not freedom but think what you will, we still have that right for now.

    Would the US allow for their precious gasoline refineries to slip away?

    Would there be an invading force to secure vital assets?

    Would Texas become Kuwait?

    Well, there's plenty of oil to drill for in every state in the Union. If they wanted to, they would drill and build refineries elsewhere but they don't. They want to destroy America and beat us down so they can make us slaves.

    I wonder, if Texas broke away and the US started drilling, would Texans have to use a passport to go to work on the rigs or even visit someone in another state?

    Man, you watch way too much tv. Get rid of all subsidies to the rich farmers and then we'll talk about your precious dairy farmers. They've been getting bailouts for years.

    Those who don't think we should secede should look up the Declaration of Independence and read some of the reasons for that great document.

    "He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance."
    "For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent"
    "For depriving us in many cases, of the benefit of Trial by Jury"

    The scum that is now running Washington - and I include both sides of the aisle - has done so much damage to this country that we will never be able to dig out of it. And the people of the Left Coast and the Northeast Corridor, as well as Chicago/Detroit, still worship the government. They've come to believe that ONLY the government can save them. The USA has become the Titanic; the iceberg has been struck and it's time to either sink or swim.

    The deal was cut with Boxer et al to avoid anti-gun legislation until after the 2010 mid-term elections. After that, the gloves are off. Guns - and the self-protection they allow - are not compatible with socialism.
