I follow your comment, jrbfishn (good point). Since only about a dozen states have some version of Constitutional Carry, in order for Texans to retain & exercise their reciprocity rights with other states (when traveling to those states), we'd still need some kind of license. Is that your point? I wonder how the citizens of those states that do have full Constitutional Carry (i.e., no license required), do those states not have any reciprocal agreements except with other CC states? [As long as *some* kind of license is required, the gov'mint is going to charge a tax for it!]

I thought it was technically if it was issued by the state, so an az nonresident for example would be good in az. I know we got into a discussion about if reciprocity qualifies as licensed by the state for 06 and 07, so I think it would be highly unlikely for prosecution, but nothing surprises me anymore.

Been a while since I've read the fed GFZ statute, but I though the language stated that if you were legally allowed to carry a gun you were safe. Sine NM recognizes TX LTC then you are legally allowed to carry in NM.

Only nullifies for the state in which you have the license. Which is stupid.

    lock_n_load,

99% of all federal gun-laws, including the so-called "Safe schools Act", the NFA & GCA68 are INCREDIBLY FOOLISH & (imo) make the Congress/POTUS that passed/signed them LOOK IGNORANT & STUPID.

For example, "Gun-Free Zones" no more stop gun violence in those places than "stop signs" actually stop motorists from "running stop signs".
(Have you EVER seen a stop sign apply the brakes on a car/truck/bus??)

Since WW!!, there have been exactly TWO "mass shooting incidents" in the USA that were NOT in "Gun-Free Zones". = That one FACT should tell any "thinking person" all that they need to know about the FOOLISHNESS of "Gun-Free Zones".

IF I had the power to do so, I would ABOLISH every federal gun control law & bureaucratic regulation, except that firearms are lawful to carry everywhere for "any otherwise lawful purpose".

The problem is "mindset" especially among liberals. They have been raised to believe 'the government' can solve all problems! This manifests itself in their belief that all we need is "the next law" passed. What I personally, have never been able to understand, is the mindset of the "minority component" of Liberals (be they Blacks or Latinos or...). Given the long history of this country, the VERY elements of our society, that logic would have you believe SHOULD be the loudest, most vocal defenders of the Second Amendment, collectively (as a group), hold the most anti-gun views! It's a situation that just defies logic (to me).

ETA: The best example I can think of is, our own state legislature. Almost uniformly, the Black (and Hispanic) representatives from the big urban centers (Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, the Valley) were the main opponents of any bill that had a hint of being pro-gun. Why is that? The very folks who live in the highest crime areas and would likely benefit the most from self-defense measures.

The groups that they represent are broke.
The groups that give them money are crooked.
Exactly whose interest do you think they are going to look out for? The criminals that gave them money. The citizens that can defend themselves means the criminals don't get as much to invest in crooked representitives. The same way New York started. History repeats.

It's simple folks, the liberals need to be incentivized to move out of Texas, to places like California which is already a lost cause. You cannot argue or debate with a liberal using logic and statistics. They do not compute to liberals. The inferior logic cannot comprehend the superior logic, mainly because the inferior liberal logic is convinced it is superior in spite of all evidence to the contrary.

There is no point in negotiating and compromising with The Left, other than to eek away your liberty an inch at a time as opposed to just giving them the whole mile. Look at California, before the 60's it was a strong conservative state, now it's a pro-Marxist, Socialist "paradise" run on lies and BS from Excremento. Once the liberals gain a foot-hold, start breeding, start putting their teachers in your schools, it's just a question of time. I watched it happen in California, I'll be damned if I just watch it happen in Texas!

That being said, hopefully HR 375 passes, and I hope at the Federal Level that the so-called Gun Free Zone gets repealed, along with NFA and GCA. However I am will accustomed to hoping in one hand and crapping in the other only to watch one had end up overflowing in excrement. In any case I do not want my kids to inherit a state/country that is less free than it is today, quite the opposite in fact.

On Wednesday, 12/7, Lone Star Gun Rights conducted an exclusive interview with State Rep. Jonathan Stickland (R-92) about his flagship Constitutional Carry bill, the LTC fee-reduction bill, and his preference of handgun. The half-hour interview will air in its entirety on Michael Cargill's Come And Talk It this Sunday, and sheds some light on Rep. Stickland's strategy for getting Constitutional Carry passed this session.

Almost immediately, Rep. Stickland set the tone of the interview. He was asked why the bill had such a hard time last session getting out of committee. Holding nothing back, Rep. Stickland said that "the liberal House leadership" doesn't want to force "members to [take] a vote" on Constitutional Carry. The leadership's act of "hid[ing] behind the procedures and the rules" to "stop it from coming to the floor" last session is a damning confirmation common belief that Speaker Joe Straus and Chairman of the Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee, Rep. Larry Phillips (R-62), did everything in their power in 2015 to ensure the demise of Constitutional Carry.

Switching the focus to this session, Rep. Stickland said he feels confident despite the obstacles. "We've got enough Representatives who have already said they support the bill to challenge the ruling of the Chair this go around." This means that once the bill is out of committee, should Speaker Straus order it to be tabled (where it will die), Rep. Stickland has enough allies to overrule Speaker Straus on the House Floor. This is not a sure thing, however. "We will need grassroots support in making them do the right thing and follow the actual rules," Stickland said, "but if they do, we can get this thing onto the floor. And I'm convinced that Republicans can't afford politically to vote 'No' against this bill."

Speaking on Lt. Gov. Patrick's bill to eliminate the fees to obtain an LTC (SB16), Rep. Stickland praised the bill, but also said he would be more than happy to use it as a catalyst for Constitutional Carry, saying, "I'm going to use whatever bill I can as a mechanism to get Constitutional Carry on there." This leaves liberty-loving conservatives with an extra out that was not available last session. Moving to amend SB16 to include Constitutional Carry could help alleviate the biggest obstacle, getting it out of committee. With as much press as SB16 has already received, plus it's blessing from Lt. Gov. Patrick, the NRA, and TSRA, successfully getting a Constitutional Carry amendment into that bill would almost ensure its passage.

Rep. Stickland's passion truly radiated as the interview went on. It was apparent by his level of excitement and his belief that Constitutional Carry will pass this session. While it will not be without its fair share of hurdles, Rep. Stickland is without a doubt laser-focused and totally committed to returning our Constitutional rights back to Texans. There is zero doubt that he was speaking from the heart when he asked, "[With] all of these different States that have passed Constitutional Carry, why are Texans not leading on this issue?... I think people are sick and tired of us following along. They want us to be leading."

A profound question indeed. Why is Texas not leading? We have the reputation of being the most pro-2nd Amendment State in the Union. Unfortunately, 11 other States have beaten us to enacting Constitutional Carry. We are so thankful to have Jonathan Stickland spearheading Constitutional Carry as his "number one priority" in the Texas House. It is imperative that we make our voice of support heard. Call or email Rep. Stickland to show him you have his back 100%. If you haven't already, sign our Constitutional Carry petition.

You can listen to Come And Talk It live on Sunday at 4pm on TALK 1370AM in Austin. For those outside of Austin, you can listen to it live online. We will also be streaming the podcast on Monday on our Facebook feed. Make sure you tune in! If for no other reason, Rep. Stickland answers the question we're all wondering: Glock, S&W, Springfield, or 1911? His answer is.................... Tune in to find out!
