    Signing a petition means squat...........imho..

Nothing will happen until enough Texans actually stand up and make it happen.....
The purpose of the petition is to get a referendum on the ballot that will bring the question into the public spotlight and encourage more people to think about the possibilities, so that in the future more and maybe eventually enough Texans will actually stand up and make it happen...

The petition isn't the end, just a beginning, and no skin off of anybody's ass to sign...

You mean like the Texas Independence Referendum Act (HB 1359), a bill filed this year to provide for a nonbinding statewide referendum on secession filed by Texas House member Kyle Biedermann?

HB 1359 was referred to the State Affairs committee but was never given a hearing or voted on by the committee before the end of the session. As of 31 May, it was considered dead/failed.

So you can understand why there's not a lot of enthusiasm for yet another online petition that most likely will end up nowhere...

1359 was squashed by Dan Patrick and Greg Abbott.

The petition is not online, it is an official petition circulated by Certified Petition Collectors, with signatures notarized and checked against voter registration roles as required by the state for a referendum, and can't be squashed by elected officials if it gets the required 80,000 signatures.

I think making secession a party platform would turn away more voters. This isn’t based on my opinion of the idea of secession, just my observation of the average Texan not on a Texas based 2A forum.

Even if we cannot secede, the solution of dissolution into multiple states still might prove useful.
Such as: keep Texas as Texas but create a new state within: The Commie Republic of Awwsten, Californians And Libtards. And give them 1 vote in the electoral college. Wouldn't that help our great state? Change my mind.
The problem is that Constitutionally, any new state would get at least 3 Electoral votes as the minimum representation is one member in the House and 2 Senators.
Secession isn’t an option as it would require a vote in the House and Senate to sever the relationship and all the property currently owned by the Federal government would remain owned by the federal government.

During the first world war our doughboys sported the M1903 battle rifle. The action was stolen from Germany.
During the war the USA was not only sending lead downrange, but paying royalties on the Mauser action to Germany
