I want to build a box-o-truth and do some testing, and I want to develop a scope of what we are going to want to test. Once I get an idea of what we are going to test I'm going to build the box. At that point we are going to be looking for donations:

    Items we will need:

    - Sheetrock
    - 1 Gallon Water / Milk Jugs (Alot of them)
    - Ammo to Test / Money to buy Ammo to Test
    - Ideas

I'm thinking of building it big enough to test alot of rifle rounds. Hell I might even be able to get a car door or windshield to test with also.

A Chronograph would be very nice to have as well.

I am about to start loading the Belt Mountain Punch big game rounds for the 45-70. The claim is it will penetrate 13 inches of hickory and about 10 inches of wet phonebook and barley deform

Be interesting to see if the round backs the claim.

Then you are going to need 20 inches of wet phone book. And the extremely big, extra long extra wide, box-o-truth!

I might be able to hook you up with a door or windshield. I know I can get you a hood right now. Just gotta come get it, since it'd be a bit tough to transport on my motorcycle.

I'll keep my eyes open for a door or windshield.

The penetration tables they had in the Marine Corps didn't seem to be realistic... I think I still have mine. I'll look up and see what was listed for different rifle bullets. MG

Will it be big enough to stop a 750gr. BMG? I can cut some oak blocks if we need a good positive back stop. MG

Water stops a .50 BMG pretty easily, but I'd be interested to compare it to other calibers. Besides, if it goes flying off into the woods, I don't really care... we will be in the middle of nowhere.

Alan, Do you already have a frame built, or at least an idea of what you plan to build to hold the jugs/ boards/sheetrock/plates? If you need/want help building it let me know. MG

Not yet, I think tomorrow we are going to hash out the details, and I'll start putting together the materials.
