    Let the Dems fight, this causes paralysis. Trump is virtually guaranteed a win in 2020.

    But he's just a speed bump during our collapse. The Repubs are slightly better than the Dems but aren't doing anything about some of our biggest problems:
    - Limitless spending and debt
    - Totally open borders
    - Soaring college cost & debt
    - Broken health payment system

    I believe the biggest problem with voters today, on both sides of the spectrum, isn’t that they are necessarily “stupid”, I think they are generally emotional (issues) and lazy (research of topics).
    I'm not sure lazy is the problem. I'd go more with burn out. we vote and vote and complain about politicians, but nothing changes. my .02

    I just got back from a week in Denver/Boulder, helping our son and his gf move.

    Gf is 22, and a CNA working on her RN. She's from LLano, Tx. Parents are both conservatives. Dad is a cop, mom is a homemaker.

    I asked her who she would vote for if the Presidential race were held tomorrow, and she said Beto, but only because her favorite wasn't running.

    Her fav? AOC. When I asked her why, she named things that were, to me, insane: "Reproductive rights, immigration, and climate change."

    I asked her, "Who writes, passes, and implements laws in the USA?" Her answer, "Uhhhh." Could not answer... eventually said the president... When I explained, very patiently, that POTUS cannot pass laws, that 'reproductive rights,' immigration, and any laws she might want about 'climate change' were not within his purview, except to veto it the first time it comes across his desk- but then can still pass w/2/3rds vote, she was dumbfounded.

    Took a long time, slowly, over the week, gave her a basic civics lesson, interspersed with her googling (at my suggestion) to make sure she knew I wasn't clouding the issues or politicizing it.

    Still has no real grasp about the breadth and complexity of the vast majority of issues being discussed.

    Scary. She's otherwise pretty level headed. More so than our son, actually. She's gone through Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace U at her church, and is reading another of his books. WHen I joked, "Better be careful: Everything in that book underpins a conservative outlook," she replied, "There is NOTHING that could ever get me to be a conservative. Trumps tweets are embarrassing. The whole WORLD is laughing at us."

    She says Trump, and pretty much all conservative politiicans, for that matter, are rude, and liars... won't listen to even the possibility that any of the dems are, at all.

    I really think there are a TON of kids (and 'adults') like her, who are otherwise pretty rational, who pretty much have their life together, but who have a big hole in their knowledge and logic trains, and are enamored with the generic platitudes spewed by many on the left.

    She really thinks AOC is the right woman for the job, and I honestly think she, and a bunch of others, absolutely will not think critically about real issues, either in 2020, or 2024.

    You did a great job. One thing you should have asked her is "What is the platform of the Dem party?"
    *Abortion (notice she said "reproductive rights"; what about the rights of the infant human?)
    * Open Borders
    * Free stuff for illegals
    * Sanctuary Cities
    * Anti-business
    * Socialism
    Did I miss anything? I would say "Are you going to vote for anyone the Dems put up?"
    Their entire, huge pool of candidates is a JOKE. Beto's a fake Hispanic; Warren a fake Indian; Inslee's a nut job; and there's Spartacus! Wasteland of Ideas. No Morals.

    I actually asked her all of those, and a lot more... really tried not to preach at her, so much as have a conversation wherein I asked her the questions that, if she answered truthfully, would simply point out some of her logic fallacies.

    She admitted that no 'polite' solution could solve the border, and understands -maybe- that POTUS can- must, per law- enforce laws as written. Has zero idea what to do about the border, just knows that separation of families sucks...but also knows that when her dad arrests DUIs or felons, same thing happens...and doesn't like taxes coming out of her checks.

    Really tried to get her into a mindset of finding real answers and ignoring rhetoric. I'm looking at this as a year and 3 month process. Hopefully, some time in there, she will be able to look at things from a perspective that's a bit deeper than she has now.
