Rule of thumb. After looking a the chart never trust anyone whose SSN starts with less than a 2.

unless they're under 8 years old... then you really can't trust them.

Louisiana starts with a 4 too up until 1999. Looks like Texas as well, though up till 1988.

it's based on the zip code of the address the SS card was sent to... so if you parents had it mailed to Louisiana, that's what you got.
