I have some company calling me & saying I owe for a Cashnet transaction that was supposed to have something to do with Bank of America. It's supposed to have been a payday loan. I think they are a bill collecting company that is portraying itself as a litigation company. They say that they are serving me papers, unless I pay in full, now. I don't owe anyone money, never took a payday loan in my life. I've always paid my bills. So, the question. The only thing they have correct is my name & social. I think they got my phone number via some search. They have the wrong physical address and email address. I went to Bank of America yesterday and I don't have an account with them. I do, however, have an old credit card with BOA. At the time of this supposed payday loan, I had $23,500 worth of available credit on that BOA card and no balance due. BOA says I did not have any other account at the time. The collection/litigation comany says that money was deposited into a BOA checking account, well, the partial account does not go back to anyone with my name. BOA searched just my first/last name and had 3 other people with the same name, the partial account number was not for any of their accounts. The guy from the collection/litigation company is a jerk. I told him all his info is wrong & they need to remove my social security number, it's not me. He just said that they are suing and do I want to give my correct address so I don't lose by default or get a failure to appear warrant issued on me. What to do? Should I give my correct home address or just forget these jerks forever and accept that one day I may have to go through a lengthy process of trying to get it removed from my credit report? IF they are legitimate and I gave them my home address, I'd be happy for them to sue me......I don't see that they could possibly win. I can show that I didn't need a payday loan at the time (I can use checking & savings account balances, plus credit that would have been available to me at the time).
