I found this article interesting as it is about people getting their LTC here in Texas. They talk with a guy at Central Texas Gun Works in Austin, who is giving the class. So much for the "new" gun owners voting for the 2A.

I've been saying this is the trend since the beginning of the gun buying panic. Can't figure out why the glass half full people won't see it...

    Gunz are icky.
    They're overly emotional diptards.
    Nothing is going to happen.
There will never be right wing death squads roaming about abducting people or any open rebellion nonsense. They are delusional.
If anything leftists will get their panties in a knot over something and lash out using their firearms. Its happened before.
Yeah, they're Americans and they can exercise their 2A rights(and they should). I'm cool with that.
And a funny thing will happen on the way to the forum. Their minds will evolve. Being responsible for ones own and ones family security tends to change people over time. Let them get mugged once or twice.
Suddenly the enemy isn't the one you thought it would be.

It is funny as the devil to see people buying firearms because of the "unrest" but are unable to see who is causing it. I should not be surprised though because it is the Peoples Democratic Republic of Austin.

Thought for the day: Why are countries with the words "democratic" or 'republic" in their names more oppressive than those without?

...Or we may end up with delusional armed folks.

This is by far the most likely scenario...

Does anyone even remotely think that arming people with both reality/perception related mental illnesses and non-existent impulse control is actually a good idea?

Have difficulty understanding how anyone in their right mind would want these people walking around armed and in Condition 1...

    Moonpie,

May I remind you of the once commonplace saying??: "A liberal is a conservative that has NOT been criminally assaulted yet."

So much for the "new" gun owners voting for the 2A.

In my opinion, this is a step too far.

First, it's an article from liberal Austin, so your sample is not representative.

Second, people voting for Trump are known to lie to pollsters out of fear of leftist mobs.

Third, it's Texas. What do I mean by that? You can buy a gun in Texas and not feel the pain of democrat gun control policies because the republicans do such a good job of protecting our 2A rights at the state level. You will NOT get the same response from new gun buyers in California, where they will immediately feel the crushing weight of ridiculous and humiliating democrat gun control policies.

And fourth, there are those who genuinely are voting for Biden, but as mentioned above, it takes time to wash off all that democrat brainwashing. They are now gun owners. A few years pass, and what do you think they are going to feel when some shooting happens, and the left-wing media says that gun owners like them are the devil? They will immediately realize that their beloved left-wing media is full of crap, just as us right-wingers always promised them.

I'm not saying all of them will convert away from democrat voting, but it cannot help but to move the democrat party towards the middle on gun control issues.

And what happens after these new gun owners shoot their new Glocks at the range wearing ear protection, and realize, "Hey, if I have to shoot this at home, it will be really loud...I should get a suppressor"? We all know they will then encounter the BS of the ATF and NFA. So now they've seen the leftist media exposed, and the effect of stupid national gun control policies, even here in good old Texas.

Lastly, it doesn't purport to be a national study on the millions of new gun owners. The crappy journalism is evident in that it starts off by saying, " The drumbeat of national crisis is driving first-time gun sales across the country. The buyers aren’t who you might expect."

According to the rules of English grammar, "the buyers" in the second sentence is referring to the first sentence, the people who are buying guns "across the country". But the article has no stats regarding any national trend in political views among new gun owners, it focuses on 20 people in a hyper-liberal city. That's what we call a "bait and switch".

    ARTICLE GRADE: F

IMO, if you're drawing any conclusions about the political views of first-time gun buyers in 2020 from that article, you've been misled.

You guys who dont remember need to refresh yourself about the history of the radical left in the 60s and 70s. They are some violent phuktards. I'm not joking when I call them religious extremist terrorist like in thinking and action. They arent tolerant liberal people lovers.

They have no compunction about tossing bombs, literally, and shooting people. Those radicals from then are the leaders and backers mentors to folks like Obama Holder and the radicals of today.

They will act out in a big way. Way beyond the armature individual antifa antics. They are actually extremely dangerous.

Democrats 'hate' you and no amount of new gun ownership is going to convert them.
    [/QUOTE]

Sadly, you're correct about the word "hate". It's not only "you", but our form of government, our lifestyle, our history. They embrace socialism, communism, Marxism, and their own Utopia. They're in for a rude awakening.

why would you buy a gun

and then vote for a guy that says he is going to take them away ???

Because they're still buying the media narrative that all these gun control proposals really are just to take guns away from "bad people", and that the politicians really do "support the Second Amendment" despite all the "fearmongering" from "extremists" like us who actually pay attention to their proposals and understand current firearms laws and technology.

Plus, just like every voter on the left, they never believe they'll be targeted by any of the restrictions the left wants to put on everything.

That story was painful to read. The people featured are truly dim bulbs and just make all of us dumber.
Stay in Austin, all of you. Texas can't use you.

Because, they think that "others" should not own guns. They feel that they are the "enlighten" ones and are the "in power" group. No need for the masses to have weapons, they might not want what the "rulers" want. In their world, Biden will only take guns from the "Trump" supporters.
Now, I do think that some of them will slowly change their views and that gun ownership is a step in the right direction. However, the question is can that happen to enough of them to make a difference in this election?
