Things you like about a gun range...

what are some of the things you like about your gun range or ranges in general..

I like ranges that have places to sit and hang out for a bit. At times, my wife usually tags along, and she's not much of a shooter, so i like places that provide lil sitting areas for the wives to hang out while the boys do their own thing.

i also like places that have food, snacks, drinks, etc.. well for obvious reasons lol.

Desirable attributes for a good shooting range:
- SAFE
- outdoors
- 25 yd pistol range
- dry/paved and covered shooting line with table/bench for shooting gear
- place to sit when not shooting
- clean (don't like paying to shoot in a trash dump)
- other people around (gets boring shooting alone)
- rest rooms

Typical indoor range stuff:
25+ yards pistol range
Bullet proof lane dividers
Electronic hanging target moving thing
Range Officers watching over the range
Paved floor
Benches and tables
Climate control
Good ventilation

Nice to have stuff:
Realistic ammo prices
A clear procedure on what the range expects if you are carrying and want to shoot your carry pistol

SAFETY in attitude and practice
Air conditioning
Good Ventilation
Reasonable ammo/Target prices
secure storage
large bays
no "slow fire" requirements
target retrieval system
knowledgeable and helpful staff
LOW tolerance for idiots
shotguns allowed
comfortable seating area/break area
Tolerant attitude towards new shooters/wives/GF/SO
Rental guns
"Loaner" tools, you always need the screwdriver you forgot
reasonable gun prices if the range is an extension of a shop
muzzles for the gunshop commandos and mall ninjas
Occasional events or fun shoots

I agree with what everyone has said so far. When travelling to Shreveport, I shoot at a local range that has a cleaning station. They keep tons of supplies and everyone hangs out/chats while cleaning whatever they were shooting. It's particularly nice for me, as I don't wish to travel with a cleaning kit.
