We could get a liberal in place of the guy. Check out his voting record, which is very strong on gun rights:

The point is not so much to condemn but to inform. When he does things that AREN'T right (like cutting any deal with Harry Reid), then the word needs to go around and we need to do everything we can to let his office know. These guys are supposed to work for US, to REPRESENT our beliefs. When they don't, they need to be reminded.

This particular Congress is easily the worst in my lifetime, possibly ever. It's so easy for these senators to fall into the trap of cutting a deal that ends up hurting Texans. Cornyn is certainly not the worst senator, but he still bears watching.

Cruz showed how it was done. Smaller campaign less money, actual conservative (so far). Big win not even close...

Why put up with these jokers who when the chips are down fold and make arguments to undermine what's best for the country while protecting what they believe their party's best interest...

It would have cost Cornyn NOTHING to back up Cruz in the vote for cloture. Instead, he voted for it, let Reid put Obamacare right back into the bill and then voted against it. Meanwhile, he spams the hell out of anyone that has an email address or telephone that he voted against Obamacare. Same shell game bullshit that Dewhurst pulled with the TSA Groping Bill. I hope he has as much success in the upcoming Republican Primary as Dewhurst did.

My problem with Cornyn is that when given the choice between representing his constituents or attacking people who threaten the established Republican order he chose to attack his own.

He could always be primaried and now that is a real threat for him.

There are many valid arguments as to how best to attack Obamacare. At the end of the day, none of it may may even matter but that's another discussion. The fight this week centered largely about parliamentary maneuvers that almost none of us really understood and that probably won't make any real difference at the end of the day.

The bottom line is that Obama won and he sees that as validation of Obamacare. He'll gladly use this as an excuse to let the country burn to the ground if the Republicans give him the opportunity. And they (the Republicans) will get the blame. That's just the way it is, fair or not.

We cannot allow perfect to be the enemy of the good (or in Cornyn's case, the pretty damned good). Otherwise, we might wake up soon and find ourselves with Kirk Watson or Wendy Davis, or worse.

Not really likely that he will lose. The mass of Republicans are stupid, just like the mass of Democrats.
They'll be told that if they don't support him, we'll lose the Dems and vote for him. Or they'll just say, he's my Republican and he's conservative like me and has done a good job (even though they don't have a clue). He's in office, so he'll be voted in again. Cruz won because there was an opening. He wouldn't beat a current establishment officeholder - doesn't work like that.

IMHO, the reason the Republican party is in the shape it in is being afraid to challenge or remove a progressive republican for fear of getting a democrat.

For all intents and purposes he did beat a very intrenched republican.

Look at Rubio before he drank the Washington immigration coolaid. He beat an incumbent who ended up switching democrat...

Cornyn is only interested in what is good for Cornyn. He plays at being conservative at times like this when his own election is near. Otherwise he has no concept that he works for us. Its time for him to go. He is a RINO, damaging this country and Texas. I have no doubt there is another Cruz type in Texas. I will take a chance on something better. Cornyn has had his day, its time for him to be sent home. Along with McCain and the 23 other RINOs that voted for Obummercare. If we don't change our own fortunes how will we effect the country? Cornyn iis an arrogant A**hole that has no interest in Texas. Keep in mind Harry Reid had an impeccable voting record on guns. Maintained for years, until Obummer called and then Reid sold out America. Cornyn has done the same. Like Puke Perry who forgets we have a border with a third world cesspool, except at election time. These OLE Boys Club RINOs have got to go. We don't need yellow dog democrats pretending to be conservative we need Constitutional conservative minded breaths of fresh air. Vote Cruz and those with like minds.

Cornyn is a progressive RHINO who does what is best for him, not the people. Gun rights sell well in Texas, so he banked on that while backing the insidious national agenda on everything else. Don't be fooled by his pro-gun stance. Senator Manchin (WV-D) did the same to a solid Republican voting bloc.

Cruz has finally broken that mold, and stands firmly for principle not "compromise."

Progressives invented the word "compromise" as a way for Rhinos to sell out their conservative constituents.

A government shut down is actually a good thing: The Government which Governs Less Governs Best.

I swore I would never vote for Cornyn or Hutchinson after they voted for the bank bailout bill in Oct. 2008. That piece of socialist legislation set the standard for not taking responsibility for your own mistakes to an unprecedented level. Corporate welfare maxed out. Regardless, I have and will continue to keep my word and refuse to vote for either of them, neither one should be elected to any position of public trust.
