9mm is not a con. Its older than the .45 by a few years, and despite being on the losing end of 2 world wars, has displaced .45acp, .38spl, .40s&w, 10mm, .357sig, and .45gap amongst others in the hands of serious users is seriously impressive.

There's very little difference between service calibers ballistics wise

But there's a big difference between them capacity, and cost per round wise, and 9mm beats them all there

Little difference in 230 grains moving 850-1000 fps and 115 grains moving 1100 fps? I don't think so.

It's not going about 2100 fps, it doesn't matter since you wont get hydrostatic shock.

ANYTHING that doesn't go that fast is just making a hole

So yes, there is no difference.

And 115gr is light for caliber, standard loading (like what 230 is for .45acp) is 124gr

I'm not familiar with 9 mm, not owning one. But even with the added information, the point still stands.

Sorry, but there is no point.

The only things that matter in a handgun caliber

    ·capacity
    ·penetration

    Everything else is a bonus

Bullet technology has brought all service pistol calibers up to par, to where the only things that make a difference is cost and capacity

    I still don't get this.
If one caliber was better before bullet technology improved, wouldn't that caliber still be better, if all bullets are equal?

.45 has roughly twice the momentum to impart on the target. Basic physics, that cannot be argued. Significantly larger expanded diameter, another basic fact that cannot be argued. Bigger hole equals more damage, more bleeding, more nerves screaming.

I have read and heard too many instances of 9 mm not stopping threats.

Obviously, others are free to make their own choices.

I think we reach a point of diminishing returns.

A 12-pound sledgehammer carries more energy than a 10-pounder, but I don’t think I’ll notice a difference if I drop one on my foot.

115 gr has been the standard for 9mm for years. Hell, back in the day it was the ONLY loading.
