    That happens alot....
A few years ago, one of the other dads on my daughters softball team used to be a NFL player... Keith Heinrich.
Same thing happened to him, but he was fortunate enough, he didn't loose his foot.He was duck hunting, went to move decoys, set his shotgun down & started walking towards the decoys & his dog got up & stepped on the trigger. He was fortunate not to loose his foot, but his ankle & foot were pretty jacked up

dang. One careless mistake and a guy suffers for the rest of his life.

My Dad’s (an honest to goodness WWII hero), only advice to his eldest son, as he boarded a plane to a war zone:

“Don’t zig if you should have zagged.”

Sometimes it’s as simple as that ...

“Heckford said ex-lineman Matt Branch was accidentally hit by a blast from his shotgun, which he had left loaded in the bed of his pickup truck.”

That’s all I need to know about the situation

If I am not done shooting birds and walk up to my truck for some water I have no issue setting my gun in the bed of the truck loaded with the safety on.

Reading the article it never mentioned if the safety was on but did state the dog stepped on it then hit the trigger.

Unfortunate situation but guess it happens more often than you would think.
