    Here's the story:

It seems like the vague idea of where/when this is going on has a high potential for being taken as real and getting some uninvited "local involvement".
    What do y'all think?

My favorite section of the article:
“Controls are in place to ensure there is no risk to persons or property. Residents with concerns should contact local law enforcement officials, who will immediately contact exercise control officials,” a release said.

...and they will do WHAT, exactly?

Robin Sage is the normal SF Qual Course final training exercise. Been going on in and around Bragg since the 60s. The USG employs a lot of locals as role-playing participants in the exercise.

EXCON verifies the status of the people in question (I.e. an exercise participant or not an exercise participant). Depending on the scenario, EXCON can/will provide details on what to do with the verified participants.

The press release is normal for every Robin Sage that happens.

    Not a big deal.

ETA: Here’s a link to an DA press release on RS from a few years ago.

Somehow, I knew that you'd know more about it. Thanks for the info. The article does say that it dates back 60 years, but maybe it should have said "We do this every year folks; no new news here." .

    It also said :
"But advance has became more critical after a soldier was killed and another was wounded in 2002 by a Moore County deputy who mistook Robin Sage for criminal activity."

If local LE can be fooled by it, maybe more specifics should be communicated out?

The 2002 event was an example of all the holes lining up in Swiss cheese. The deputy was aware of the exercise, but didn’t expect military members to be in civilian clothes.

The Army did assess and improve efforts to inform the public and better coordinate with local LE after that.

Here’s a good, contemporary account of the immediate aftermath.

Good read, thanks. It sounds like they have taken prudent steps for future sessions. I wish them well and safety for all.
