I chose to do a patina finish on the Gunny 2 yesterday.
The A2 steel is awesome but it requires you to wipe it down a lot with oil or it will start lightly staining after just a few hours after use.

Doing a forced patina is just putting a coat of protective oxidation on the blade sort of like blueing a gun barrel.

Now you don’t have worry about wiping off residue from things your blade contacts to prevent staining.

I cleaned it with acetone and used distilled vinegar at first, but the stuff I had seemed to be weak, so I switched to the mustard method.
    I did three applications.
The first one was for 20 min, the second one was for one hour and the last one was for nearly 3 hours.

Maybe you like it, maybe you don’t.
I’m completely happy with how it turned out and now I can just wipe it down occasionally and not worry about cosmetic surface staining.

You chase that piggie down and kill it with that knife?
I meant to say “you seen the knife before”
It’s the same knife you saw in the parking lot the other day
I was trying to load a different pic of the knife and somehow that one got attached.
I have got to quit posting without my darn readers...

Yeah but I haven’t seen the patina job in person yet.
