Since I fully believe in the system of free enterprise, I too have mixed emotions, or thoughts on this issue. Fortunately, I generally try and stay somewhat prepared for natural disasters. So we have pretty much of the things needed to survive.

Since we are setting pretty well, price gougers and profiteers aren't going to make one thin dime off us. Many of the stores in town are depleted of TP, and some idiot sitting in Walmart's parking lot, with a pickup truck load of TP, selling them for $5 a roll. Personally, I hope the idiot gets stuck with his truck load of TP!

If someone needs something bad enough, they will pay the going price, no matter how inflated it is. I just refuse to do business with them, and I do have long memory after things go back to normal. That's why I stopped doing business with CTD years ago.

I am a bit short on 9mm ammo. But not a problem. I'll just improvise with 45acp and 44 Magnum instead!

I drove to Louisiana to buy a car from a member of a car Forum that I belong to.
We kept in contact during the trip there, talking on the phone 2 or 3 times.
When I got there, he told me that someone offered him $2k more than the price we had agreed upon.
I left after a few choice words.
His name was mud on the Forum and he disappeared.
Wow, what a piece of shit. Hopefully karma bites him in the ass as hard as it can.

Sounds like the makings for a perfectly good bonfire.

    Just a random thought.

How is CTD even still a business? Who is still supporting this?

Free Enterprise Entrepreneur is a beautiful thing.

Nice to know if you have to have it, someone is willing to offer it.

Threads like these help us identify the closet Bernie supporters.

As a capitalist pig, I hope he sells out. That would be a win for him, and win for all the people who needed TP and could not get it at the stores.

And why could they not get tp at the store? Because dipshits like that bought it all to resell at a huge profit. Hang him as a warning to others.

Another one outs himself from the closet.

No, the real reason most stores ran out is folks bought a little more than they normally do. It does not take much to disrupt the normal supply. Each regular shopper buying just 20% more can wipe the store out in a day.

A lot of the folks who have supply and are selling are preppers who are releasing their reserves. This has been an MO of mine for decades. Executed properly, most of the magazines, ARs, ammo I have was paid for during the recent panics. NONE of it was bought during the panics.

I just wish I could stock up on these low fuel prices as easy! sub $1/gallon might happen soon. I can store 1000 gallons of diesel, but gasoline is harder, only have capacity for 100 gallons or so.

Free enterprise is one thing, but price gouging to take advantage of people just to make a quick buck is just unethical. And immoral. Under some circumstances, even illegal.

Not a Bernie supporter by any stretch, but I do know the difference between right and wrong.

There is no such thing as price gouging, unless you are forced to pay. Like your taxes, :-).

Nobody is being taken advantage of, as nobody is forced to buy his product at his price. You are free to price shop and get it cheaper elsewhere. He is providing a vital service for those who need TP. Nothing immoral and it should certainly not be illegal.

That is why I said closet. You might not actually pull the lever for him, but you are choosing his socialist ideas over capitalism.

How is providing a product folks need wrong? It is 100% the right thing to do.

I think your prepper scenario is a strawman to minimize the douche nozzle behavior. Anyone that can gleefully abandon common decency and screw their neighbors for a quick buck is not someone I'd ever do business with.

I'd say it's symptomatic of our deteriorating society but there have always been unscrupulous characters among us.

So govt should decide price of a product, not the free market buyer & seller.

So we are up to 4 closet Bernies?

I cant keep the spreadsheet updated fast enough...
