According to witnesses, around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night, three men kicked down the door of a home on the 3000 block of Newport. Once inside, they attacked the 19-year-old woman with a baseball bat. Fortunately, the woman wasn't hurt seriously. The men fled and a description of their truck led police to a nearby home. Harley Skeen, 20, and Marty Warford, 44, were arrested at that home. The victim positively identified them as her attackers. They're charged with burglary. Warford is also facing weapons charges out of New Mexico. The search continues for the third suspect.
I stress that same mindset to my wife. Your comfortable, home setting could easily be where it all ends (imagine ones surprise!) . It cost little to develop the habbit of keeping a gun close to prevent this.
We've had several home invasions in NW Houston, some walking street beggars, and a burglary nearby. The end of the road for me was a 12 yr. old neighbor asking us to help her as she was afraid to go into her house because of that burglary.
