It's a daily process to take an evening shower and then stand in front of the mirror for a self inspection. I'm not bragging when I'm doing that!

But isn't the mirror supposed to be "inside" your house?

Tons of ticks at the in-laws property in Edwards county. I've got chiggers at my place in Milam county, but haven't seen ticks. I've found that tucking my pants into my boots and spraying the boots with off is enough to keep them both away from me.

That's what we did "back in the day".

There has been a correlation between fire ants and reduced tick populations. Can't recall now who did the study. Of course correlation is not the same as causality, but the correlation was pretty strong.

You can rationalize it by repeating “I’m a grower, not a show-er”

I've seen a bunch of fireflies this year already. Seemed they only showed up in June before, or maybe I am misremembering.

And I can tell you that Red River County is loaded with ticks.

We have fireflies at our house. Anecdotal, but I got rid of all the fireants when we moved in a few years ago. Honestly I'm surprised the ducks haven't wiped out the fireflies like all the other insects in the yard. They must taste really bad.

They (ducks) sleep at night. They are also very self conscious, and are embarrassed by glowing poop.;)

Yeah, but the fireflies sleep during the day. Normally they do that on the ground or low plants, but these must be doing it in the trees out of the duck's reach.
