After weeks of searching, reading, viewing, researching, pro-ing and con-ing I decided to pull the trigger on a Bakflip F1 cover for my GMC.

The F1 is way overkill for my needs as far as strength goes, but the others were made of aluminum panels. I didn't want to have to steal oven mits from the wife's kitchen in order to operate the thing in August.

And I didn't want fabric only either. Might as well use a tarp.

At any rate, the Bak Flip seemed to be the least PITA of all of them.

Any one out there have one? Thoughts? Gotchas?

I've never had a folder, don't trust them to keep water out so I can't help there.

I've had fiberglass covers on every truck for 20yrs, love them! Used to carry $$$$ in work equip, out of sight - out of mind.

I guess it comes down to how often you haul something tall and won't (for me) fit under an angled cover. I can remove my @80lb cover alone but it is cumbersome so I recently installed a little pulley system, easy as pie now. ;)

    Good luck.

    Thanks for the quick replies.

I realize the cover isn't water tight, rather water resistant.

Can I use a tailgate extender with it?

I have a Tonno-Pro Trifold. Aluminum frame and vinyl cover. 4 clamps that easily come on and off. Love it. I'm actually selling mine (for Ford F150) since my wife totaled my truck.
