    Shop was one of the most useful classes in high school. I still have some of the items I made in wood and metalwork classes.
    I think they are great at providing another avenue for some students to see a future career that doesn't require a college degree to make a living.

    There use to be a lot more "shop" type classes years ago, that taught trades like plumbing, construction, welding and auto repair.

    IMO there is too much emphasis on pushing students towards going to college, especially since not every student is college material, and it's setting them up to fail in life. Where going to a trade school would be many times a better career path for many.

    I am making another addition to the "tools" in my small shop, I have ordered a 13-inch 2HP Grizzly Benchtop Thickness planer with the helical cutter head Model G0940. If I want to build higher-quality projects, I need to step up my game a bit.
