Recommend me just a Basic one. don't think I need a "calibrated/recalibrate able" one. it is just for tires and the odd bolt here and there.

i've always used the crapsman tension bar type. if it's for basic needs (not firearms or aluminum), go to harbor freight IMO. All that crap except the expensive stuff is made in china anyways. back in 'na day, crapsman may have been us made (black and decker? and other sources) but my guess is it's all made in china crap now.

^Same here^ I bought a Craftsman tension bar torque wrench 40 years ago when I did my first valve job on my 1968 Cougar. Still use it today.

You didn't search, did you? People on here are getting lazy these days. Here's one thread. I actually ended up buying the CDI wrench that Shorts suggested, and it's great. If you want a piece of crap that might not be calibrated at all, get that. I spent $140 for one made by a reputable company that came with a hand-written calibration spec.

Lol. Possibly, but it doesn't bother me anyways. The forum is here to exchange ideas and ask questions.

If you are tired of answering one, just don't answer it.

Craftsman, Snap-On, I liked it so much, somebody thought they liked it better, Lowes, Harbor Freight, most any pawn shop. Still have my Craftsman from... that hurt my brain... about 25 or so years ago.

For guns, go to Brownell's or Midway for inch-pound wrenches.

For heavy duty, you can't beat a Craftsman -- lifetime warranty.

Go with a good name brand, ie Craftsman, Kobalt, etc.

No names are iffy. I bought a house brand torque wrench from an auto parts store. Ended up warping a brand new head on an engine because it was 25 ft/lb undertorqued at least. Second time rebuilding the engine, just got a feeling to double check it, and sure enough, put a Craftsman on it and found the no name was undertorquing... well no wonder it blew...

It's been a while since I was in the market for a good torque wrench, but if I recall correctly, you're gonna spend about $1/1lb for a good torque wrench.

I use a Snap-On type wrench and love it. The tool was not cheap but it never needs calibrating(digital) in reads in inch pounds, foot pounds, Newton meters and Degrees. This particular wrench wasn't cheap but I wouldn't trade it for any other.
