Honestly, I don't see much wrong with it, I actually thought it was sort of funny and at least you manage to stay on topic somewhat. I've seen guys come in and just say a whole bunch of "cool" or "nice gun" comments.

I would say that perhaps introducing yourself somewhat would have gone a long way.
