Traffic speeds in TX

Got stuck behind an okie doing 13 in a 55 today.

Had a tiny hybrid car in front of me getting on the onramp for the freeway, she was driving 20-25 MPH without speeding up to safely merge. I had to illegally swing around her on the left thru the solid white lines to safely make it on the freeway and I had to take a look at who was driving; wouldn't ya know, a Karen wearing TWO masks, all by her lonesome self.

Why didn't you do the friendly and neighborly thing? like ease up behind her gently, and push her car up to the safe merging speed?

Not advocating following “left” to where ever they park for the night and beating their shins with a cricket bat, but if I was on the jury I would have a difficult time convicting.

Guy on the left is taking a real chance. Judging from the color and printing that I could see with a loupe he is trying to pass a Schneider, one of the most dangerous and aggressive truck lines out there today. I have had a couple of close calls with their drivers. One just drove into my lane without signal when his lane ended one day in KCMO. His trailer clipped my passenger side mirror as I frantically decelerated.
This scene is every day on I 10. Worst road around these parts. Especially on Sunday.

You don't drive around the Midland/Odessa area much I take it. You haven't seen aggressive until you drive these highways. Right of way only means who would get hurt worse.

No I don't. Probably pretty much the case on any Interstate with only 2 traffic lanes near/between to major areas in Texas. Problem is, too many people, most of 'em not from around here.

Folks need to drive safely. If that’s the speed limit for them then fine.

There is such a thing as too fast for the conditions and you are part of that equation.

Much like those that text and drive, those that go too fast should also be shot on sight.

And what is a "speed lane"?
The left lane on a multi lane highway is a passing lane. Have you seen the signs that say "Left Lane For Passing Only"? That means that you don't drive in it. Those black and white cars and SUV's with that light thingy on top are supposed to stop you and remind you of that, and you're likely get a piece of paper with your signature on the bottom for your troubles.

Try the Pecos-Jal highway... now it's actually 4 lanes in parts... but before 3-4 years ago, when it was 100% 2 lane, it was not uncommon to be driving 15 over the speed limit and have water or sand haulers try to pass you...on the shoulder.

Between 2010 and 2015 there was an average of 3 deaths weekly on that highway. After the widening? It's down to like 1.2 weekly...

I don't doubt it, but then that's not very populated. Kermit highway is much like that, wish they wouldn't have decided to fix so much of it at once.
